Margaret Bondfield (17. maaliskuuta 1873, Chard, Somerset – 16. kesäkuuta 1953, Sanderstead, Surrey) oli englantilainen ammattiyhdistysjohtaja ja poliitikko.[1]

Elämä

Bondfield ei käynyt juuri kouluja vaan meni ompelutarvikekauppaan töihin 14-vuotiaana. Olosuhteet olivat surkeat: kaupat olivat auki kuusi päivää viikossa, joten kauppa-apulaiset tekivät 65 tunnin työviikkoja. He asuivat työnantajan tiloissa, maksoivat pienestä palkastaan vuokraa, säilyttivät omaisuuttaan laatikossa sängyn alla ja saattoivat vain harvoin jos kooskaan laittaa ruokaa tai käydä kylvyssä. Bondfield liittyi perustajajäsenenä Kauppa-apulaisten ammattiliittoon (National Union of Shop Assistants). Bondfieldin veli oli muuttanut ennen häntä Lontooseen ja toimi myös aktiivisesti ammattiliitoissa.[1][2]

Vuonna 1899 Bondfield oli ainoa naisedustaja ammattiliittojen kongressissa, ja hänestä tuli sen ensimmäinen naispuheenjohtaja vuonna 1923. Vuonna 1923 hänet valittiin myös alahuoneen jäseneksi Työväenpuolueen edustajana. Hänet valittiin uudelleen vuonna 1929, ja hänestä tuli Ramsay MacDonaldin toisen hallituksen työministeri. Hän menetti paikkansa parlamentissa vuoden 1931 vaaleissa. Hän jäi eläkkeelle ammattiyhdistystyöstä vuonna 1938.[1]
