Kauhukomedia

Kauhukomedia on kirjallisuudessa ja elokuvissa käytetty tyylilaji, jossa yhdistellään kauhua ja komediaa.

Kirjallisuudessa Edgar Allan Poe yhdisteli kauhua ja huumoria jo 1800-luvulla.[1] Yhdysvaltalaisen kirjailijan Washington Irvingin vuonna 1820 julkaisema kauhukomediatarina The Legend of Sleepy Hollow on yksi lajityypin ensimmäisistä suurista teoksista.[2]

Elokuvissa usein hirviöt on kuvattu koomisella tavalla tai elokuvien päähenkilöt ovat typeriä ja yleensä uhkeita povipommeja kuten kauhuelokuvissa. Tunnettuja nykyisiä kauhukomedioita ovat muun muassa Scary Movie ja Shaun of the Dead.
