Juan Ferrero (alk. Fidel Ferrero y Colino, 5. huhtikuuta 1918 Puente Almuhey, León – 17. kesäkuuta 1958 Bordeaux) oli espanjalainen kehonrakentaja. Jo lapsena Ranskaan muuttanut Ferrero voitti Mr. Universe -kilpailun Lontoossa 1952.[1][2]

Elämä ja ura

Ferrero syntyi Puente Almuheyn kylässä Pohjois-Espanjassa, mistä hän muutti perheensä mukana Ranskan Bourdeaux'hon 1920-luvulla. Hän oli hyvin tummaihoinen, minkä johdosta hän sai lempinimen El Negro, Musta. Teini-ikäisenä Ferrero menestyi useissa urheilulajeissa: hänen aikansa 100 metrin juoksussa oli yksitoista sekuntia. Sittemmin Ferrero kiinnostui voimailusta, hänen ennätyksensä yhden käden maastavedossa oli 190 kilogrammaa.[1][2]

Ferrero sijoittui kolmanneksi Mr. France -kilpailussa 1943. Ferreron kestävin saavutus on ensimmäisen Mr. Universe -kilpailun voitto Lontoossa 1952. Sen myötä hänestä tuli kuuluisa etenkin Ranskassa, ja hän poseerasi useiden aikakauslehtien kansikuvissa.[1][2][3]

Ferrero ja hänen lapsuudenperheensä olivat oppositiossa Francon diktatuuriin, eikä hänen menestystään huomioitu julkisesti Espanjassa.[4]

Juan Ferrero avioitui 1939 espanjalaisen tanssijattaren Magdalena Isabel Martínez Cuadrosin kanssa. Pariskunnalle syntyi poika Rodolfo ja tytär Anita. Ferrero kuoli auto-onnettomuudessa Bordeaux'ssa, onnettomuusautossa oli hänen lisäkseen Rodolfo ja kolme muuta henkilöä. Ferrero oli onnettomuuden ainoa kuolonuhri. Rodolfo menestyi kehonrakentajana 1960-luvulla.[1][2]
