Göran Widmark

Göran Widmark (28. tammikuuta 1910 Jukkasjärvi, Ruotsi – 13. tammikuuta 1982 Hedemora, Ruotsi) oli ruotsalainen pappi ja virsirunoilija.[1]

Widmark vihittiin papiksi 1940 Luulajan hiippakuntaan ja hän toimi Tornionlaaksossa hiippakuntapappina. Hän oli myös ulkolähetystyön ystävä ja 1946 Ruotsin kirkon lähetys (Svenska kyrkans mission) kutsui hänet palvelukseensa kotimaantyön sihteerinä. Uppsalassa hänestä tuli myös kaupunginvaltuuston jäsen, ja hän edusti sosiaalidemokraattista puoluetta. Toimittuaan noin 20 vuotta Ruotsin kirkon lähetyksen palveluksessa hän toimi vielä komministerina Tukholman Maria Magdalena -seurakunnassa.[1]

Hän julkaisi 1962 pienen runokokoelman I vånda och fröjd, jossa oli vain 24 sivua. Kun sen kolmas painos ilmestyi kymmenen vuotta myöhemmin, oli siinä lähes kaksinkertainen määrä sivuja ja runoja.[1]

Hänen sanoittamansa virren "I tro under himmelens skyar" on suomentanut Niilo Rauhala ja virsi alkaa sanoin: "Myös isämme uskoivat ennen" (virsi 187). Se on Suomen evankelis-luterilaisen kirkon ruotsinkielisessä virsikirjassa virsi 427.

Virsi on Ruotsin kirkon suomenkielisessä virsikirjassa numero 228 ja sen suomenkielinen teksti alkaa sanoin: "Kuin myös isät uskoivat kerran". Se on myös Niilo Rauhalan käännös vuodelta 1998. Virren sävelmä poikkeaa hieman Suomen evankelis-luterilaisen kirkon virsikirjan sävelmästä, minkä takia virteen on tehty uusi käännös.[2]
