Fès (myös Fes, Fez tai Feš, arab. فاس‎, Fās) on Marokon toiseksi suurin kaupunki. Vuonna 2013 siellä oli 1 079 091 asukasta. Fèsissä on kaksi medinaa eli vanhankaupungin aluetta, ja niistä suurempaa, Fès al Balia, pidetään maailman suurimpana autottomana kaupunkialueena.[2] Fès Al Bali on Unescon maailmanperintökohde.

Fès on perustettu 800-luvulla; perustajana pidetään Idris II:ta.[3] Se kukoisti marinidien dynastian aikana, jolloin se oli Marokon pääkaupunki.[4] Siitä tuli myös malikiittisen islaminuskon keskus.[5]

Fèsin talous on edelleen hyvin perinteistä: tekstiilejä, käsiteollisuutta, maataloustuotteiden jalostusta.[6] Fès on antanut nimensä punaiselle tasakattoiselle pyöreälle päähineelle fetsille.

Fès al Bali

Fès al Bali eli Vanha Fès on muurien ympäröimä Fèsin vanha kaupunki. Fès al Bali perustettiin Idrisidien dynastian pääkaupungiksi vuosien 789 ja 808 välisenä aikana. Fès al Balin alue nimettiin Unescon maailmanperintökohteeksi vuonna 1981 nimellä Fèsin medina.[7] Muurien ympäröimään maailmanperintökohteeseen kuuluu mm. Al-Karaouinen yliopisto. Se sai yliopiston aseman vuonna 1963, mutta sen tausta ulottuu 800-luvulla perustettuun moskeijaan, minkä takia sitä virheellisesti pidetään "maailman vanhimpana yliopistona"[8][9] Fès al Balin autottoman alueen väkiluku on 156 000.[10]
