Björn Strandell

Björn Strandell (26. huhtikuuta 1897 Uusikaarlepyy – 30. joulukuuta 1990) oli suomalainen yritysjohtaja, joka sai vuorineuvoksen arvonimen vuonna 1947. Hän myös kilpaili ratsastuksessa kesäolympialaissa 1936 ja 1948.[1][2]

Strandellin vanhemmat olivat apteekkari Ivar Hjalmar Strandell ja Aina Rauha Nordfors. Strandellin isä toimi Auran Panimo Oy:n johtokunnan puheenjohtajana 1924–1929, ja yhtiön ensimmäinen toimitusjohtaja ja johtokunnan puheenjohtaja oli Strandellin isoisä V. L. B. Strandell. Björn Strandellin puoliso vuodesta 1929 oli Anja Maria Hovilainen. Strandell valmistui farmasian kandidaatiksi 1917, suoritti Ruotsissa farmasian opintoja 1919–1921 ja sai proviisorin arvon 1924. Hän toimi 1925–1927 Helsingin yliopiston farmaseuttisen laitoksen kemian assistenttina ja perusti 1928 korvikekermaa valmistaneen Oy Tarmoke Ab:n Riihimäellä. Auran Panimon johtokunnan jäseneksi hänet nimitettiin 1930 ja toimitusjohtajaksi ja johtokunnan puheenjohtajaksi 1933. Strandell muutti yhtiön nimen suomenkieliseksi, mikä aiheutti Strandellin kauden alussa yhtiön osakkaiden välillä huomattavaa erimielisyyttä. Tehtaiden isännöitsijäksi Strandell nimesi appensa Toivo Hovilaisen. Strandell nimitti johtokuntaan 1937–1959 Ilmari Katajan, jonka avulla yhtiö etabloitui Turun suomenkieliseen liike-elämään. 1971 Strandell myi Auran Panimon osake-enemmistönsä Oy Hartwall Ab:lle.[1]

Strandell kilpaili kansainvälisesti purjehduksen 8mR-luokassa ja ratsastuksessa sekä Berliinin että Lontoon olympiakisoissa. Hän toimi sekä Suomen Ratsastajainliiton että Suomen Kenttäratsastusseuran johtokunnassa ja Helsingin olympiakisojen esteratsastuskilpailujen yliratapäällikkönä.[1]
