Agat oli ensimmäinen 8-bittinen sarja PC-mikrotietokone, joka oli valmistettu Neuvostoliitossa. Kone oli kloonattu (kopioitu) Apple II:sta. Ensimmäinen Agat tietokone esiteltiin Moskovan messuilla vuonna 1983. Agatia on valmistettu enimmäkseen vuosina 1984-1990, joitakin vielä vuonna 1993.

Agat perustui pääasiassa suunniteltuun Apple II PC[1][2], mutta Neuvostoliitto edellytti tiettyjä muutoksia suunnitteluun. Ensisijainen näihin kuuluva oli MOS 6502 mikroprosessori jonka korvaamiseksi käytettiin "jaettavaa 588-sarjaa" mikroprosessoria, joka oli simuloitu 6502 käskykannalla[3].
