Swiss (nombre oficial: Swiss International Airlines Ltd.) (IATA: LX; OACI: SWR) es la aerolínea de bandera de Suiza que presta servicios principalmente en Europa y hacia América del Norte, América del Sur, Asia y África.
Como consecuencia de la situación de suspensión de pagos en 2002, (de Swissair) estando bajo administración judicial y habiendo cesado sus operaciones, la compañía regional Crossair adquiere carácter internacional y se convierte en la compañía de bandera, cambiando su nombre por el de Swiss International Air Lines Ltd. en 2003.
La aerolínea es actualmente la principal compañía aérea suiza y se encuentra basada en el Aeropuerto Internacional de Zúrich también llamado el aeropuerto de Kloten, aunque su sede administrativa se encuentra en la ciudad de Basilea en Suiza. En 2003 la compañía transportó más de once millones de pasajeros.
Swiss se encuentra actualmente en un gran proceso de reestructuración para adaptarse a la situación de mercado y tomar las posiciones que garanticen su continuidad, y su éxito empresarial. La compañía fue adquirida a través de la fundación "Almea" en un 89% por el "Lufthansa Group" al que también pertenece la línea alemana Lufthansa, se prevé la adquisición del 100% de las acciones. La compañía ha pasado a ser miembro de Star Alliance a partir de 2006.
La compañía preservará su nombre y una cierta autonomía, su dirección general y su sede continuarán en Suiza. Swiss conservará su flota aérea.
El precio de venta total de la compañía se sitúa más allá de los 300 millones de euros.
Durante el 2008 la compañía incluyó el idioma catalán en las comunicaciones de cortesía de los vuelos entre Zúrich y Barcelona, pero debido a las presiones del partido político UPyD para que también incluyera el idioma español, la compañía decidió retirar el idioma catalán de las comunicaciones de cortesía a mediados de diciembre del mismo año al entender que no es viable utilizar cuatro lenguas y decidió utilizar el inglés, alemán y español.[3]
Swiss opera una flota de 84 aviones (a marzo de 2024), con una edad media de 10.14 años:[4][2]

En 2007, los lectores de la revista alemana Business Traveller magazine seleccionaron a Swiss y a su aeropuerto sede en Zúrich respectivamente como la mejor línea aérea y el mejor aeropuerto de Europa. Esta publicación especializada ha organizado esta votación desde 1993.[5]
