Owen Hart Cup

El Owen Hart Cup (la Copa Owen Hart en español) es una serie de torneo de lucha libre profesional producido anualmente por la empresa estadounidense All Elite Wrestling (AEW) en asociación con la Fundación Owen Hart. Consiste en dos torneos de eliminación simple, uno para hombres y mujeres, y los respectivos ganadores reciben un trofeo llamado "The Owen". Establecidos en septiembre de 2021, los torneos inaugurales concluirán en el pago por evento Double or Nothing en mayo de 2022. Lleva el nombre en honor a Owen Hart, un destacado luchador de las décadas de 1980 y 1990.

Historia

En septiembre de 2021, AEW anunció el establecimiento de la Copa Owen Hart, un torneo anual para honrar el legado de Owen Hart, un destacado luchador de WWE (en ese momento conocido como World Wrestling Federation) durante la década de 1990 que murió trágicamente en la sede de esa empresa en el evento Over the Edge en 1999.[1]​ El torneo se estableció en colaboración con la Fundación Owen Hart. El 17 de diciembre, AEW reveló que habría una versión del torneo tanto para hombres como para mujeres, y los respectivos ganadores recibirían un trofeo llamado "The Owen".[2]​ También se confirmó que los torneos comenzarían en mayo, culminando con los finales en Double or Nothing.[3]​ Al decidir por qué habría un torneo de hombres y mujeres, Tony Khan lo comparó con Wimbledon, que también tiene torneos de hombres y mujeres.[4]​

Para la versión de 2024, se anunció que los ganadores del torneo tendrán una oportunidad titular por el Campeonato Mundial de AEW y el Campeonato Mundial Femenino de AEW respectivamente en el evento All In.

Diseño

El diseño consta de un trofeo plateado en forma de copa, donde en la parte central lleva el logotipo de la Owen Hart Foundation. Asimismo, viene acompañado con un cinturón de campeonato.

El cinturón rinde homenaje al Stampede North American Heavyweight Championship con un diseño muy similar. Asimismo, esta lleva algunos grabados como el logotipo de la Owen Hart Foundation, las banderas de Estados Unidos y de Canadá respectivamente.

Wild Card o Joker

El Wild Card o Joker equivale a un luchador o luchadora sorpresa que no es anunciado sino hasta antes de la lucha programada.
