Demografía de Siria

Densidad de población en 1993.

La mayoría de los sirios son semitas del Levante mediterráneo. Hoy en día los sirios son considerados árabes por su lenguaje, cultura, posición geográfica e historia. También existe una minoría no-semita que fue ocupando el territorio a través de los años.

El 74% de la población es musulmanes suníes, un 13% son drusos y alawuíes y el 10% restante es cristiano ortodoxo, grecocatólico, armenio, siriojacobita.[1]​

El árabe es el idioma oficial y también es el más hablado en el país. La etnia se conforma por un 95% de árabes, un 4% de kurdos y el resto son armenios, turcos y palestinos.

La mayoría de los sirios educados hablan inglés y/o francés, y hay hablantes de español, principalmente emigrantes a Argentina retornados y descendientes de éstos.
