Zing is a Local Government Area in Taraba State, Nigeria. Its headquarters are in the town of Zing.

It has an area of 1,030 km2 and a population of 127,363 as at the 2006 census. Zing is predominantly Mumuye.[2] There are 12 Mumuye clans.[citation needed]

The name "Zing" was given (renamed) after Lion which was "Zingang" before for clear and easy pronunciation, still many are but it can still be referred to "Zina" which is a blessing to Mumuye Kingdom and its ancient culture. The Place Zing was an area where Lions base before the Mumuye came and conquered the Lion and occupied the Land, That is why you can see the status of Lion in the Kpanti's Palace. Climate/Geography

The rainy season in Zing LGA is warm, muggy, and humid, whereas the dry season is hot and partially cloudy. The average annual temperature fluctuates between 58 °F (14 °C) and 95 °F (35 °C); it is rarely lower or higher than 51 °F (11 °C) or 101 °F (38 °C). The hot season, which runs from February 8 to April 15, lasts for 2.2 months and with daily highs that average more than 92 °F (33 °C). March is the warmest month of the year in Zing, with typical high temperatures of 95 °F (35 °C) and low temperatures of 70 °F (21 °C). The average daily high temperature during the 3.2-month cool season, which runs from June 28 to October 2, is below 83 °F (28 °C). December is Zing's coldest month of the year, with an average low temperature of 59 °F (15 °C) and high temperature of 86 °F (30 °C).[4] The district has an annual temperature of 31.14 °C (88.05 °F), which is 1.68% higher than the average for Nigeria. Every year, Zing experiences 151.25 rainy days (41.44% of the total) and 103.37 millimeters (4.07 inches) of precipitation.[5][6] Zing LGA has an average temperature of 29 degrees Celsius and a total area of 1,030 square kilometers. The average wind speed in the LGA is 10 km/h, and there are some forest reserves.[7]

January is the clearest month of the year in Zing, with the sky being clear, mostly clear, or partly cloudy 52% of the time on average. In Zing, May is the cloudiest month of the year, with the sky being overcast or mostly cloudy 80% of the time on average.[4]
