Dr Yazin Nizar (born February 9, 1990), also credited as Yasin, is a playback singer working mainly in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi-language films. He is the singer of the Oscar-winning song Naatu Naatu in Tamil and Malayalam.[1][2][3][4]
Early life and career
Yazin was born in Korram, Kerala, India on Febuary 9, 1990. As a teenager, he was awarded kalapraibha in state and regional CBSE youth festivals. He was also a winner of competitive TV shows Gandharva Sangeetham, Sangeetha Maha Yudham and Apple Megastars, and began singing live. He holds dual graduate degrees in MBA and Supply Chain Management (SCM). He has sung in several Indian languages – Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi. He sang "Charusheela", from the Telugu blockbuster Sreemanthudu, "Yavvana", from the Tamil film Satya, and "Kolussu Thenni", from the Malayalam film Cousins, some of the most popular Indian songs of 2015. His songs for Telugu films, such as "Meghalu Lekunna" (Kumari 21F, which earned him the Best Playback Singer of the Year Award at the 2016 Mirchi Music Awards), "Seetakalam" (Son of Satyamurthy), "Apple Beauty" (Janata Garage), "O Sitara" (Winner), "O Vasumathi" (Bharat Ane Nenu), "Nalo Chilipi Kala" (Lover), "I Love You Too" (Shivam), and "Oka Poota Annam Kosam" (Bichagadu). "Avatha Payya" featuring in the movie Paradesi in GV Prakash's music, the track "Jayalakshmi" from Saithan, "Sajalamai" from the movie 101 Weddings in Deepak Dev's music, and "Veyil Poyal" from Bhaiya Bhaiya, composed by Vidyasagar.
In 2017, he ventured into indie music, singing the multilingual track "Neeye, Neeve and Neene", composed by Phani Kalyan, in Tamil, Telugu and Kannada.
Yazin was nominated twice for the Filmfare Award for Best Male Playback Singer – Telugu at the 63rd Filmfare Awards South, for "Meghalu Lekunna" from Kumari 21F and "Charusheela" from Srimanthudu.[5] He is also the winner of the Best Upcoming Singer award at the 2015 Mirchi Music Awards South and GAMA Dubai.
