Auckland Meetup #24 – Saturday 8 June 2024

- Date: Saturday 8 June 2024
- Time: 10:00 am to midday
- Location: Meeting Room, New Lynn War Memorial Library, 3 Memorial Drive, New Lynn, Auckland
- Bring a laptop if you have one. There are publicly available computers if you don't have a laptop, but they are located elsewhere in the library.
Venue
The group will meet in the Meeting Room located on the ground floor of New Lynn War Memorial Library. Please ensure that the room is left how we found it including table and chair locations.
The library is a one-minute walk from New Lynn train station and the New Lynn Transport Interchange, served by trains on the Western Line, and numerous bus routes (14, 18, 22N, 24B, 24R, 68, 149, 152, 154, 161, 162, 170, 171, 172, 186, 195, 191, and 670).

1. Introduction to meetup by organisers
- General welcome and introductions
- A big wave from the Welly meetup!
2. Round table for participants to say what you’re working on / interested in
- Beeswaxcandle – enWS as usual. Principally working on Cheeseman's Manual of the New Zealand Flora with The Adventures of Kimble Bent as a side project.
- Prosperosity – most recently has been working on Mount Aspiring National Park and associated pages, Wikidata, and coordinates.
- Catsandthings – attended the recent Auckland Writers Festival, and took photos of Jess Hong and Lee Murray (writer), uploaded them to Commons and added to their respective article infoboxes.
- Paora – along with Schwede66 got the 2024 Birthday Honours (New Zealand) page filled in last Monday, added new honours to pages of recipients with existing articles, created stub for the one new knight / dame without a page, namely Peter Hunter (bioengineer) (needs further expansion).
3. Discussion of possible collaborative projects and future events
- Discussion of possible liaison with organisers of future Auckland Writers Festivals to improve Wikimedia coverage (articles, Commons images, etc) of participating writers
