Hi SounderBruce. Thanks for your patience in reviewing Canberra MRT station. Me and my co-nominators had made some progress to the page and in my view, have addressed your concerns. Do take a look when you are free and hopefully we will pass the GA. Welcome any additional comments. Thanks. --Quek157 (talk) 15:26, 1 May 2018 (UTC)__DTREPLYBUTTONSCONTENT__-->__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"2018-05-01T15:26:00.000Z","author":"Quek157","type":"comment","level":1,"id":"c-Quek157-2018-05-01T15:26:00.000Z-Talk:Canberra_MRT_station\/GA1","replies":[]}}-->
I see that you're quite an expert in these matters. Do you know if the SeaTac/Airport Station has a bus lane under the station. Looking at Google Maps, it does not. The top photo in the article shows a bus. However, the bus is not stopped but happens to be driving past the station at high speeds. A bus stop is on International Blvd. which you can see in the top photo (bus shelter). Is this correct?
My question is to understand the station because I want to make it a FA. I have just made an article FA and want to do a second one. You can be co-nominated when it's ready because of your work on that article. @Vanguard10: The bus in the photo is a Port of Seattle rental car shuttle bus traveling on the Airport Expressway. There are no bus lanes under the station itself (just a small parking lot for Sound Transit workers), but there are buses that run on International Boulevard.
As for the article's FA prospects, I don't think it's ready. The details for the alternative station sites haven't been fleshed out and I haven't gotten around to adding updated information on the covered garage connection. I'm currently focused on the FAC for Central Link and getting the remaining Sounder commuter rail stations up to GA status for a potential good topic, so I'm not looking to add another item to my to-do list. I've made an edit using different wording about the bus stops not being in the station. I am willing to work very slowly and not everyday so you can review edits. I am open to discussion to article improvement. If you want to lay off and watch it improve, that is ok. (I see you are in Wikicup - if you want credit, I will try to get this to FAC eventually and co-nominate you so you can get the credit and 200 points) If you want to supervise and approve all changes, that is ok, if done in the Wikipedia way. If so, I will make it easier on you and make very small changes very slowly. Thank you for your willing to discuss things on the article talk page. However, I am concerned that you appear very determined to have it your way by reverting all edits. In contrast, I suggest various alternatives when the original is not liked by you. You mention now wasting "digital ink" on a discussion about bus stops but this is just a start of potential problems. The effort to improve the article is great and complex. I choose one of the easiest passages to start.
What is a possible solution to editing? I am open to suggestions. @Vanguard10: I suggest you step away from the article and try to understand Wikipedia's policies on disputes/discussion and reliable sources before returning. Wikipedia is not a place to generate new information (e.g. the bus stops being adjacent to the station), but rather a place to echo well-established facts from well-established reliable sources (e.g. "the bus stops at the station"). While it's admirable to get a featured article, it should not be seen as the ultimate goal for an article and an editor should not try and burn bridges while rushing towards the "goal". As the primary contributor and researcher, I don't have ownership of the article, but I do have a responsibility to steward the article appropriately and prevent policy violations. I consider the term "lack of cooperation" to be a borderline personal attack, so I'll ask you to keep things civil and less heated. SounderBruce05:45, 5 May 2018 (UTC)__DTREPLYBUTTONSCONTENT__-->__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"2018-05-05T05:45:00.000Z","author":"SounderBruce","type":"comment","level":2,"id":"c-SounderBruce-2018-05-05T05:45:00.000Z-Vanguard10-2018-05-05T03:29:00.000Z","replies":["c-Vanguard10-2018-05-05T07:02:00.000Z-SounderBruce-2018-05-05T05:45:00.000Z"],"displayName":"Sounder"}}-->
No personal attack is intended, whether borderline or overt. May I suggest your very good suggestion, except that you step away from the article? I have a responsibility to steward the article having a demonstrated interest in aviation above and beyond you. I do not have an interest in editing the University of Washington station article or the Angle Lake station article. I do ask you to keep things civil and less heated, perhaps suggesting that you take your advice and step away from the article.
My concern is that I have chosen the area of least dispute in the article (a simple idea that buses do not stop at the station but adjacent to it) but you have been firmly entrenched in rejecting all compromise. I do not attack you as I commend you for replying to discussion.
It is not an attack on Sound Transit to not take a grandiose view of this station being huge and having all this bus service. In fact, southbound, it is hard to get to the bus because you must take the overpass to cross the street, go down to the street level, then cross the street back to get to the bus stop (judging from Google Maps). This is far from bus service being in the station and is consistent with the Port of Seattle's description that bus service is adjacent (not in) the station. The Port of Seattle is the owner of the airport and not just a seaport, just as the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey is the owner of JFK Airport in New York.
I ask for your cooperation so that it will not be a huge effort just to improve one or two sentences. At that rate, it will take about 20 years (1000 weeks) of constant editing to do what should take 6 weeks of editing the article. Let's work in the spirit of cooperation or perhaps you can focus your efforts on all the other transit articles that you are working on. But please do not simply revert. I try not to revert back but make many different proposals so stubborn I am not. Thank you in advance for your cooperation. Thank you for letting me know your concern. Do know that expression of concern can be interpreted as a false accusation or even a personal attack so expressions of concern have to be worded with utmost care. There was no canvassing. I did not ask anyone to make a comment on any talk page. I am actually very concerned about you. I thought that you might be a good person to work collaboratively but it appears that there is a risk of edit wars based on the large amount of discussion that has taken place just to use the word "adjacent" to describe a bus stop. This is extremely disappointing as I originally thought you were a very esteemed Wikipedian based on your many transit edits. I do not withdraw that public sentiment but hope that you will confirm in my mind your esteemed reputation. @Vanguard10: Your message at User talk:MilborneOne is a textbook case of canvassing, using non-neutral tone and trying to rope in an uninvolved user. A template message delivered by Twinkle is not a personal attack. SounderBruce22:06, 5 May 2018 (UTC)__DTREPLYBUTTONSCONTENT__-->__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"2018-05-05T22:06:00.000Z","author":"SounderBruce","type":"comment","level":2,"id":"c-SounderBruce-2018-05-05T22:06:00.000Z-Warning_symbols","replies":["c-Vanguard10-2018-05-05T22:09:00.000Z-SounderBruce-2018-05-05T22:06:00.000Z"],"displayName":"Sounder"}}-->
Then perhaps you should write a personalized message rather than a template. My message to MilbourneOne is to seek advice on editing in general and did not ask him to intervene or tell him what the editing problem was. I am very disappointed that you would act so aggressively to try to have me blocked in the Edit Warring noticeboard. That effort has failed. Please try to work cooperatively.
I have submitted a request in the WP:THIRDOPINION noticeboard. That page states that it is less formal. It is less aggressive than even RFC.
I also recommend that we think of multiple alternative wordings so that we can come to an agreement (I have done so many times). Your use of Twinkle to simply revert things is not constructive. Please do not jeopardize the current GA by this dispute. FYI, your behavior has caused me to retire from Wikipedia except to reach a conclusion to a few open issues, such as this one. I have no plans to improve the SeaTac/Airport article in other sections because you are, frankly, very difficult to work with. You fail to discuss, just use Twinkle reverts. @Vanguard10: A report to AN3 does not mean a request for a block. It's a request for some meditation from an uninvolved administrator, which may result in a warning, page lockdown, or a block. Wikipedia is one of the most wide-reaching repositories of shared knowledge, yet a 2011 survey found that less than 10% of its contributors identify as female, suggesting an alarming absence of voices. What and how information is shared is skewed by this gender disparity. To help change this, the Jacob Lawrence Gallery is organizing a quarterly series of Edit-a-thons to improve Wikipedia's coverage of womxn artists of color.
This Saturday afternoon's gathering will focus on creating, editing, updating, and expanding pages for womxn artists from Latin America and the Caribbean. The Edit-a-thon will feature a talk by Dan Paz, Lecturer in the UW School of Art + Art History + Design, an artist, and an educator who explores the labor of digital imaging production as a collaborative site where the intersections of the image-idea and lived experience are produced and contested. Through videos, photography, and sculptural projects that query the ability of documentary processes to be manipulated—to be multiplied and replicated, stopped and started, rewound and advanced—Dan works within the impossibilities of absolute replication to question the very ability of the image to truly represent.
Everyone is welcome. Access to UW WiFi will be provided for non-UW affiliated participants. All you need to bring is your laptop, power cord, and ideas. No previous Wikipedia experience required! Childcare, snacks from local businesses, and editing tutorials will be provided. Please check the Facebook event page for updates.

Hi SounderBruce. I am looking to encourage suitable editors to review more articles at WP:GAN. Currently you have 5 nominations awaiting review and as you are probably aware there is a large backlog. This means you and other editors may have to wait months before your articles are reviewed. According to User:GA bot/Stats you have reviewed 5 articles and your user page says you have helped promote 99 articles to GA status. This suggests that you are familiar with the criteria and able to contribute more reviews. Without editors reviewing articles the process falls apart. If you need some help with reviewing feel free to ask me or leave a note at the help desk. Do you think we should even display the shield? The business route no longer exists. The Sprague Avenue / Interstate 90 interchange—which was the eastern end of the business route—is incomplete, and therefore you cannot even drive the full length of the former business route. Here you can see the original interchange layout, which unlike today has an eastbound on-ramp. What are your thoughts on this? I feel like we should just keep the info about the Spokane business route in the notes section. @Howpper: As a former route, the shield should be removed entirely. Thanks for bringing this to my attention, as business routes are a bit outside my field of expertise. The detailed information about the business route should be moved to the business route list's section on Spokane. The notes column for exit lists are meant for very short notes that have no viable spinoff article (like former alignments; note that not all of them need to be listed, especially for routes that were followed by interstates). @Barkeep49: Generally, I gather sources and write up short bullet-point lists before going back and converting it into prose with details. There's a pretty significant gap in my notes for the article (concerning when the road was first built), so it was far from ready for the mainspace. I've been slowly pulling back my work from the draftspace because I've had several pages prematurely moved to the mainspace before they were really ready. As someone who spends most of his Wiki time at WP:NPP and WP:GA (when not editing in my own niche area) rare is the time that a new article is pulled back into draft by its editor rather than pushed out too soon. Having looked at it for NPP, though admittedly not having read it thoroughly, I thought it more than ready for the main space even if it was not yet at the level of quality of other work of yours. Thanks for the answer. I always enjoy insight into how thoughtful editors go about their work here. @Bri: I don't suggest creating articles on the BRT stations at all, since they aren't individually notable and will be hard to maintain in the long-term. Sound Transit hasn't adopted official names for the stations, and hasn't really locked down their locations yet, so anything done now would be WP:CRYSTAL. I'd rather wait and see what exactly gets nailed down. If transit research has taught me anything, it's that the ballot plans are never anywhere close to the final product; I think the best time to set up the articles would be after the first round of scoping meetings. SR 522's BRT project is about to enter that stage of the process, and the plans are becoming much clearer thanks to secondary coverage and the amount of new material coming from ST. Took your sound advice (see what I did there!) and added the material to Kirkland, Washington for now. @Bri: I'll clean it up and integrate it with some more detail about general transit in Kirkland, but I think this is the way forward until the project develops further. FYI, the use of a capitalized "Station" is no longer allowed per WP:USSTATION (where there's always a fight about this sort of thing). I'll start setting up navigation/browse templates based on the preliminary names here soon. Sure. I'll keep logging sources in the userspace draft as I come across them. I hope they don't use "Bothell" station for one of the three Bothell stations (four if you count Canyon Park). Also, Kirkland stations are inconsistent -- why not "Downtown Kirkland" if they have a "Totem Lake"? ☆ Bri (talk) 03:00, 6 June 2018 (UTC)__DTREPLYBUTTONSCONTENT__-->__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"2018-06-06T03:00:00.000Z","author":"Bri","type":"comment","level":7,"id":"c-Bri-2018-06-06T03:00:00.000Z-SounderBruce-2018-06-06T02:49:00.000Z","replies":["c-SounderBruce-2018-06-06T03:03:00.000Z-Bri-2018-06-06T03:00:00.000Z"]}}-->
Sound Transit isn't exactly known for having good, consistent names (two Shoreline stations, three Universities, and two 130ths), which is why I don't want to pull the trigger and create a dozen BRT station articles. I think it's safe to create articles for some of the existing transit centers, but only if they're backed up by solid references that point to notability beyond merely existing. The fact was ... that the platform shelters at the modern Puyallup train station were built to resemble the city's former train depot? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Puyallup station. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Puyallup station), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Hello, Bruce. Re your request for a source review on the Edmonds station FAC nom, I see that it at present has a single support, a somewhat unanalytical one, and just one substantial content review. Because of time I've lost in the past through source-reviewing articles that have then been archived, I decided a while back that I wouldn't start source reviews until an article had at least a couple of supports. This chimes with the instruction on the WT:FAC page that "requests [for sources reviews] should only be posted here for FAC nominations that have attracted several reviews and declarations of support." I'll be happy to do the review when a little more activity, in particular more support, is evident. I see you replaced the shield I added with the template County Route Shield, but that isn't the shield that the route uses. The route uses this shield. Shouldn't it display the correct shield on the major intersections list? @Howpper: The shield was replaced by Imzadi1979 when applying the regular {{jct}} template. The custom shield would need to be introduced into the template.
Also, I don't think the county route meets the notability standard for a standalone article, so please consider looking into the project standards for county route lists. On 26 June 2018, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Lakewood station, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that an allegedly phallic sculpture at Lakewood station attracted controversy because the area around the station had once been home to sex businesses? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Lakewood station. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Lakewood station), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

On 2 July 2018, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Seattle head tax, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Amazon responded to the proposed Seattle head tax by threatening to halt development of a downtown office tower and initiating a ballot measure? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Seattle head tax. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Seattle head tax), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

The third round of the 2018 WikiCup has now come to an end. The 16 users who made it to the fourth round had at least 227 points. Our top scorers in round 3 were:
Courcelles, a first time contestant, with 1756 points, a tally built largely on 27 GAs related to the Olympics
Cas Liber, our winner in 2016, with two featured articles and three GAs on natural history and astronomy topics
SounderBruce, a finalist last year, with a variety of submissions related to transport in the state of Washington
Contestants managed 7 featured articles, 4 featured lists, 120 good articles, 1 good topic, 124 DYK entries, 15 ITN entries, and 132 good article reviews. Over the course of the competition, contestants have completed 458 GA reviews, in comparison to 244 good articles submitted for review and promoted. As we enter the fourth round, remember that any content promoted after the end of round 3 but before the start of round 4 can be claimed in round 4. Please also remember that you must claim your points within 14 days of "earning" them. When doing GARs, please make sure that you check that all the GA criteria are fully met. Please also remember that all submissions must meet core Wikipedia policies, regardless of the review process; several submissions, particularly in abstruse or technical areas, have needed additional work to make them completely verifiable.
If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article nominations, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed (remember to remove your listing when no longer required). Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove your name from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send.
