Hmm... in addition to being the worst movie it appears to have one of the worst articles on all of Wikipedia to boot: The Vagrant (1992). Thanks very much for your kind words. I'm quite glad I said something useful at the right time; those four FAs are absolutely stellar. It's sad to me to think that a lot of people never meet the editors like User:Awadewit, User:Qp10qp, User:WillowW, User:DrKiernan and their ilk who make this place so worthwhile. Part of what got me started contributing was seeing how good the best Wikipedia content could be, and I'm sure your work will have that same effect on other people who are Wikipedia readers now but will someday become editors.
I'd definitely take you up on that offer of a free drink :) No secret that I'm in NYC and DC most of the year... if you're ever out this way, drop me a message. --JayHenry (talk) 07:43, 2 January 2008 (UTC)__DTREPLYBUTTONSCONTENT__-->__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"2008-01-02T07:43:00.000Z","author":"JayHenry","type":"comment","level":1,"id":"c-JayHenry-2008-01-02T07:43:00.000Z-The_Vagrant","replies":[]}}-->

Scartol, Thanks for your detailed feedback! I moved on your recommendations, and they improved the article. So far, the piece has received one "support" and one "oppose." The opposing reviewer argued that it includes POV content--a surprising criticism given that the article is so well referenced. After reviewing the comments, however, I sensed that the reviewer's main concern was the article's "colorful" prose. This criticism dovetails with some of your comments. I've revised the article based on feedback I've received from you and others. If you have a chance to give it a second look, I'd appreciate it. Thanks for the feedback, and the heads-up! In line with two of your earlier recommendations, I untangled the passage on the 1912 World Series and added two images--a photograph of Ban Johnson and an old postcard image of Youngstown. Hi Scartol, This message is just to let you know that three reviewers have supported the article's promotion. At this point, there is no evidence that the opposing reviewer has revisited the page. Nor did this reviewer respond to a message I left a couple days ago. Please know that I expanded the "Personal life" section with material drawn from the obituaries of McAleer's wives. Other sections of the article have also been upgraded. When you have a chance, your feedback on the latest version of the article would be much appreciated. Thank you so much for your work and incredibly helpful suggestions regarding Emily Dickinson! I greatly appreciate the time you have taken to help me, a "nobody."

You're welcome! And, okay, not a "nobody" like miss Emily then. Maybe instead I'll be a "toad" like my next project:
"Think as I think," said a man,
"Or you are abominably wicked;
You are a toad."
And after I had thought of it,
I said, "I will, then, be a toad."
I agree, btw, about Harold Bloom; wretched, wretched, wretched. I'll endeavor to find additional critical reception from more palatable sources to even out the old bore. :) p.s. if you're bored one day, recite "Because I could not stop for Death" to the tune of "Gilligan's Island" - hours of entertainment! Hi there: I got your name from Wikipedia:One featured article per quarter. I've never brought an article to FA status but I think I'd like to try to improve Ellery Queen as much as possible, regardless of where it ends up. Could I prevail upon you to give me the benefit of your expertise and tell me what you think might need to happen to the article? I should note that a very small part of the article is currently the subject of a WP:Third opinion question and I will abide by the result of that, but it shouldn't affect the article in general. If this request is unwelcome or inappropriate, of course I withdraw it; any comments you make on my talk page would be welcome. Hi Scartol,
Just rechecked the article, and now the tables have been separated somewhat (they were dead next to each other when I commented) the offset isn't so noticeable, although it is still there. As I said in the FAC, you don't need to treat it as actionable as we can't be required to accommodate every browser/operating system/screen resolution.
That said, if you can fix it, that'd be great (apart from anything else, it'd give me an article to look at for solutions if I ever encounter the problem again ;) ). Browser is Firefox 2.0.0.11, running Windoze XP SP2, fully patched. Screen resolution is 1024x768. If it's of use, I can take a screenshot & upload it - let me know if that'd be helpful.

I noticed that the copy editor is in. I would like to make a request on behalf of an article. I just reviewed Sir Gawain and the Green Knight. Hey, hey friend o' mine!
I'm sorry if my reply at the FAC for Joseph Johnson seemed unappreciative; I didn't mean it that way! I was really touched by your comment, although Awadewit deserves most of the credit. I was only trying to say that our articles should be judged like everyone else's; we make mistakes like everyone else, and we'd appreciate them being amended, like everyone else.
Now I have a favor to ask! I've been teaching myself Blender, which is an open-source program for making 3D animations, among other things. My first goal was to make an animation of planetary motion, which you see at the left, and which I'd like to add to some of those pages. How does it look to you? Is there anything "funny"? Can you think of some way it could be improved? I'd very much appreciate any help or insights you had. Muchas gracias, mi amigo,Willow (talk) 18:22, 11 January 2008 (UTC)__DTREPLYBUTTONSCONTENT__-->__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"2008-01-11T18:22:00.000Z","author":"WillowW","type":"comment","level":1,"id":"c-WillowW-2008-01-11T18:22:00.000Z-Hi_and_friendly_favour","replies":["c-WillowW-2008-01-18T18:00:00.000Z-WillowW-2008-01-11T18:22:00.000Z"],"displayName":"Willow"}}-->
Hey Eric — do you mind if I call you by your first name? It feels more personal, and you don't seem to be keeping it a secret. But I'll stick with Scartol, if you prefer.
On the advice of G-guy, I updated the Kepler animation to make it slower, and on my own whim, I made the central star larger and the elliptical track slimmer and more pink — everyone needs a signature. ;) How does it look to you now? Is there something I should fix — maybe the rotation of the central star is too distracting, for example? I want the planetary orbit to be the main focus, but I also want to explain that the planet's orbit doesn't depend on the rotation of the central star; anyway, stars do rotate in real life. Thank you for any suggestions! :) Willow (talk) 18:00, 18 January 2008 (UTC)__DTREPLYBUTTONSCONTENT__-->__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"2008-01-18T18:00:00.000Z","author":"WillowW","type":"comment","level":2,"id":"c-WillowW-2008-01-18T18:00:00.000Z-WillowW-2008-01-11T18:22:00.000Z","replies":[],"displayName":"Willow"}}-->

Hello,
I have been trying to get the powers that be to allow the inclusion of a page entitle:
KidCast or KidCast for Peace: The idea of Kids broadCasting to the Adults came to me in 1995. I proceeded to invent a game for children and teachers mentors to play wherein the kids learn about different cultures and peace by making art and making contact with peers in other countries via CUSeeMe Video Conferencing at a time when this was innovative on the Net: 1994 (was our first use of the medium the year before KidCast was born).
Anyway, you are an educator so I picked you since society is your "beat" and I have been getting heat from the powers that be, about my attempted entry to this Wiki:
that i just rewrote, I don't know how to get back to the original attempt.
Thanks for any help in formating, validation and navigation of the powers that be so to help enable reference to this noble work.
Blessings and Peace
Peter Rosen

Hi Scartol, I went though Le Père Goriot and it reads wonderfully as always; you have a gift for rich, satisfying prose! :) I made a few amendments at places where the text seemed ambiguous (to me), which you should check to make sure they're OK. Hoping that they helped and looking forward to your next project, :) Willow (talk) 22:07, 21 January 2008 (UTC)__DTREPLYBUTTONSCONTENT__-->__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"2008-01-21T22:07:00.000Z","author":"WillowW","type":"comment","level":1,"id":"c-WillowW-2008-01-21T22:07:00.000Z-Review_of_Le_P\u00e8re_Goriot","replies":["c-WillowW-2008-01-21T22:09:00.000Z-WillowW-2008-01-21T22:07:00.000Z","c-WillowW-2008-01-21T22:51:00.000Z-WillowW-2008-01-21T22:07:00.000Z"],"displayName":"Willow"}}-->
PS. Oh, one question. I noticed that it's categorized under Category:Masterpiece Theatre — should you make some reference to M.T. in the text, maybe in the last paragraph? PPS. Oh, one more thing. In the lead, the phrase "struggle of class" is vague and leaves the reader perplexed. Does it mean class warfare in society, or the struggle of individuals to obtain higher rank, or the importance of class in determining one's worth in society? Or maybe all of that at once? However beguiling the portmanteau of meaning, it might be better to spell it out more prosaically. ;) Willow (talk) 22:51, 21 January 2008 (UTC)__DTREPLYBUTTONSCONTENT__-->__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"2008-01-21T22:51:00.000Z","author":"WillowW","type":"comment","level":2,"id":"c-WillowW-2008-01-21T22:51:00.000Z-WillowW-2008-01-21T22:07:00.000Z","replies":[],"displayName":"Willow"}}-->

Hi, I saw your name on the wikipedia:peer review volunteer page. I'm currently working on a science article called the Kardashev Scale, the page has gone through a lot of changes in the last 3 months, some of them reverts that I wish to overturn. I've sent out some notices to people who have worked on the page previously but I'm having problems getting open opinions and feedback. Their ideas about what they want the article to be about and look like are pretty set. I need outside opinion.
2) A catch-all vocabulary term for a scale used by scientists, in classifying advanced civilizations. This has important implications when speculating on sociological structures of advanced civilizations. But also, it is a necessary analysis when talking what about clues might be left behind or generated by alien species; which then might lead the the discovery of extraterrestrials.
3) Because it is can be used for the speculation of advanced civilizations it is a magnet for those interested in science fiction. Not many science fiction writers actually talk about the scale or the power generated by fiction species in power(WATTS) terms, but science fiction enthusiasts are interested in the Kardashev Scale.
My primary goals are in advancing the content area of number 2 and diminishing the fictional content. After all, it is a scientific not a fictional topic. My secondary goals are to find and add published content on the extension of the scale. The feedback I have gotten is pretty much divided between goals 1 or 3. And I don't want to create a editing war!
So please read the article and the discussion page and tell me what you think!!
1)Is the article presently fine the way it is?
2)After you read it, did you get the impression that it was a science article or a science fiction article?
3)Was it too long, too short, easy to understand?
4)Was the article interesting, was it boring, did it feel jumbled or was it concise?
5)What do you think might be needed to be added to this article, what do you think needs to be edited out?

I noticed that your user name was on the Wikipedia:Peer review/volunteers list. I was wondering if you could take some time out of your schedule to head over to the Heroes (TV series) talkpage and give us an honest peer review. The page has gone through some major changes in the last few months, and it would be fantastic if a prominent editor/contributor like yourself, could head over and give us at the Heroes Wikiproject some sound opinion and ideas on improvements for the page. We have all worked very hard at improving the page, and we need great outside, reliable and trustworthy users to come over and help us improve. I you are interested in joining the peer review discussion with other prominent users/contributors, much like yourself, please follow the link. Thank you very much for your help and your continued effort to improve Wikipedia and its quality! Have you seen this Balzac bibliography? Bibliography of Balzac criticism, 1930-1990 edited by Mark W. Waggoner - it sounds a bit more recent than the one you recently bought. Some citations for Le Père Goriot. I think perhaps a little more research is needed for Balzac's "greatest" novel - :). Here are some more sources I found in my quest. I hope they are helpful. Hi, I placed Empire of Atlantium on the peer review page. I think this article can be a good or featured article, especially since Atlantium's website has more than enough information and User:Gene Poole is the emperor. Could you please help us improve the article? I'll see if I can find other editors to help.
Thanks,
