Sorry, I didn't even realize there was a discussion about that at the talk page. Your comments had ended up in the Good Article discussion from 2007, so I missed them.

Anyway, I was just trying to follow the system that's been in place for Puerto Rican basketball players (see Carlos Arroyo, Peter John Ramos, etc.) I do recognize that "American" is the correct choice outside of a sporting context. Hopefully, we can get a clear consensus on the talk page. I believe that you are right, he should be placed in the diplomat section.
