Sorry for late reply (impromptu mini-wikibreak). I generally keep an eye on the AEC's recent decisions for general updates, although even they usually go up only about a month after the ruling. I really, really wish these minor parties would settle on one name and stick to it; I remember the Climate Change Coalition and Conservatives for Climate and Environment changed their names just before they were deregistered, for some unfathomable reason, which leaves me wondering where their pages should go. As for The Communists, I was rather surprised to find that title unoccupied and not requiring disambiguation! And at least their name change is nowhere near as irritating as The Climate Sceptics'. I need some help again. I just started South West Queensland and found a reference from the Department of Local Government and Planning for population at 8,200. However if I add the 6 shire populations from 2006 ABS census data I get a much higher number, 25,139. I left the first one because the lower figure matches the same area figure. I was going to add the shire areas and populations with 2010 data but the Maranoa Region has 2009 data and a much higher population figure at 114,105 alone. I know that area has seen a lot of growth from mining but it seems very high. Can you resolve this? - Shiftchange (talk) 13:10, 25 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"2012-01-25T13:10:00.000Z","author":"Shiftchange","type":"comment","level":1,"id":"c-Shiftchange-2012-01-25T13:10:00.000Z-South_West_Queensland","replies":[]}}-->

Black and Bolton seems to think 6 years. It says he held North Perth from 1953 to 1959 (where he was indeed defeated by O'Connor), then Karrinyup 1968-1974 after two unsuccessful attempts in 1962 and 1965. He was on a few parliamentary committees and one honorary royal commission, but aside from that seems fairly minor. If you like I can send you a copy of the page, as I have it here. Looking in the history, the 26 years claim has been there for years. Hello Orderinchaos. I am currently conducting a study on the dispute resolution processes on the English Wikipedia, in the hope that the results will help improve these processes in the future. Whether you have used dispute resolution a little or a lot, now we need to know about your experience. The survey takes around five minutes, and the information you provide will not be shared with third parties other than to assist in analyzing the results of the survey. No personally identifiable information will be released.
Please click HERE to participate.
Many thanks in advance for your comments and thoughts.
You are receiving this invitation because you have had some activity in dispute resolution over the past year. For more information, please see the associated research page. Good news! You now have access to 80 million articles in 6500 publications through HighBeam Research. Here's what you need to know:
Your account activation code has been emailed to your Wikipedia email address.
Only 407 of 444 codes were successfully delivered; most failed because email was simply not set up (You can set it in Special:Preferences).
If you did not receive a code but were on the approved list, add your name to this section and we'll try again.
The 1-year, free period begins when you enter the code.
To activate your account: 1) Go to http://www.highbeam.com/prof1; 2) You’ll see the first page of a two-page registration. 3) Put in an email address and set up a password. (Use a different email address if you signed up for a free trial previously); 4) Click “Continue” to reach the second page of registration; 5) Input your basic information; 6) Input the activation code; 7) Click “Finish”. Note that the activation codes are one-time use only and are case-sensitive.
If you need assistance, email "help at highbeam dot com", and include "HighBeam/Wikipedia" in the subject line. Or go to WP:HighBeam/Support, or ask User:Ocaasi. Please, per HighBeam's request, do not call the toll-free number for assistance with registration.
A quick reminder about using the account: 1) try it out; 2) provide original citation information, in addition to linking to a HighBeam article; 3) avoid bare links to non-free HighBeam pages; 4) note "(subscription required)" in the citation, where appropriate
Show off your HighBeam access by placing {{User:Ocaasi/highbeam_userbox}} on your userpage
When the 1-year period is up, check applications page to see if renewal is possible. We hope it will be.
Thanks for helping make Wikipedia better. Enjoy your research! It is possible to have locations by association rather than precise exactitude - this was going to be an off wiki discussion some days ago but you said you were hard to get hold of - at least there arent the old days of anxiety about 20 items or more for justification - I aint gonna give you a hard time - but really....
Also to take out the LGA names associated with - I can think of a whole range of sub-cats of something like the main suburbs of perth, western australia should be able to handle/accomodate - otherwise one is left with a situation where the larger perth w.a. category gets filled with crap... Armadale is a suburb article - there is no "place" called Armadale beyond the boundaries set by the Geographic Names Committee. Associating a road which primarily services Banjup, Piara Waters and Forrestdale with a distant suburb, or a railway line whose busiest sections are in the Victoria Park-Cannington-Gosnells area, overstates the importance both of those to Armadale, and of Armadale to them. As for the LGA, it is not a property or derivative of the suburb (such as a street within it, or a building or school within it would be), so it doesn't make much sense to add the LGA under the suburb category either. It concerns me that we're wandering far into WP:OR territory with some of the classifications. Ok I tried ringing you but you werent answering - I can see the point about the specific category/suburb need to be perhaps tighter - I was thinking of ways of trying to see a way towards a looser category that allows for the name / association to be an allowable inherent part of a category - but maybe there are betters ways of doing it. Hi. I saw your name listed on a page linked from WP:Harrassment. I'm looking for help with an editor who I had a content dispute with. User:Arcandam keeps harrassing my talk page with warnings misconstruing every edit I make. He's done it a couple of times before (history). I think it started with this warning template I used to him after he made unexplained, unconstructive changes to the article that we were discussing. We've been in discussion on Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Hip pop, where he responded to the previous with "editsummaries suck", and he's been pretty hostile to me there. I've tried to make nice and be humble at his talk page and the discussion page, so the discussion is about the content and not our character, but he's responded with accusations, calling me ignorant about the topic of the articles I edit, and does not assume good faith because I disagree with him on certain content. One of his main accusations is that I canvassed, b/c I asked editors of music-related articles to comment on a music-related discussion, and I primarily edit those kind of articles. He uses this to undermine any logical argument I make. Both at his talk page and the discussion page, he's threatened to follow the edits I make, so isnt that sort of uncivil or wrong? He is not considering anything I say, so I'm done trying his talk page. Can you please help? He seems to respond better to others who havent debated him yet. I did submit this problem to "Editor assistance," but I have not gotten any responses. If I can be of help to restore a bit of neutrality to the Freud lead, I am happy to do it, and I know more than enough about Freud and all the related epistemic issues to be helpful, but I don't have time or energy to fight off an editor like Polisher of Cobwebs. Even if I did, I feel pessimistic that the restoration of balance would remain indefinitely on a page that treats such a divisive topic. The Freud page used to be "good" and is no longer--what would safeguard against it becoming bad again, even if I improve it? Certainly I cannot devote the same level of vigilance to it that Polisher of Cobwebs does. If you have further ideas for how to proceed or want further input from me, let me know, I guess at my Talk page? Hello, Orderinchaos. You have new messages at Evad37's talk page. You can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{Talkback}} or {{Tb}} template.
Not leaving, but seriously questioning the administration of this site. As such I am unlikely to take on matters brought to my talk page unless they concern something I'm directly involved with or interested in.
I started here in July 2005 as an IP editor and in March 2006 as a named editor, and within 6 months of my arrival was welcomed into a local community of editors. I was fortunate to attend its first meetup, and still count a number of Perth editors as personal friends today. I've also been privileged to work with a wider community of Australian editors through the Australian WikiProject and its various sub-projects; with a wider group of editors and admins around the world; and as an elected board member of my national chapter for two years in 2009–2011. I still believe in the ideals behind Wikimedia, however, I feel that they have failed somewhere along the way at en.wikipedia. I remember hearing early last year about the Editor Trends Survey, marking a decline in contributors to en.wikipedia to a possible future level that would make even maintenance difficult let alone active content development, and I've seen the stagnation throughout much of the content on my watchlist. It seems that another hidden effect of the editor trends is an increase in the percentage of those whose main reason for being here is process rather than content. No matter where I look, process seems to be creeping in and destroying what is left of the content building that is going on. A politicised ArbCom going around desysopping people because it can, a Signpost whose "special issue" is a lowest-common-denominator political campaign worthy of Murdoch's discredited UK tabloids, a bunch of people running around telling people they can't edit content because some guideline they wrote themselves says otherwise, constant arguments about minutiae — it's all part of the same phenomenon.
And I find that sad, as someone who has worked hard for years to build content myself, and to contribute to it via the Wikimedia movement. A friend (who has been very active in advocacy and promotion in the past) recently told me he cannot in all good faith go out and encourage people to edit Wikipedia; I'm wondering that he's not mistaken. What will be here in 3 or 5 years from now? Those in charge aren't thinking about that, even though history will judge them for it. Sorry (though understand) that you feel that way. Like the world, WP is a scene of results forged in conflict, all semblances of co-operation being a subset of that. The answer is to abolish phony faiths while chipping away at it and riding with the punches. Ultimately the world can't care for human sentiment of any type, let alone feelings for goodness, honesty, transparency, etc.! We have to wait until later in the year when the ABS bring out the localised stats. At present all we've got is the "suburb" stats, which could be half the shire's land area in some cases. Actually, on looking, those stats may never be available :/ They've massively reduced the number of Census Collection Districts, such that "Dangin" for example is the entire Shire of Quairading outside the town of Quairading itself, and Shackleton is the entire western half of the Shire of Bruce Rock. It's a shame CCDs are indivisible. Quite a number are correct though - use the "Geographies Search" under Advanced Search, go to State Suburb and inspect the map that results, I can see about 20 (including most of the shire towns in the Wheatbelt/Great Southern + Bremer Bay, Youngs Siding, Pinwernying, Kendenup, Newdegate, Hyden, Dwellingup, Ranford) which could be updated on present info. I am writing to you as you have signed up to the Education Meetup at Wikimania 2012 and perhaps are interested in how Wikipedia links to education. Wikimedia UK is now running a education related event that may be of interest to you: the EduWiki Conference on 5-6 September in Leicester. This event will be looking at Wikipedia and related charitable projects in terms of educational practice, including good faith collaboration, open review, and global participation. It's a chance to talk about innovative work in your institution or online community, and shape the future of Wikimedia UK's work in this area!
The conference will be of interest to educators, scholarly societies members, contributors to Wikipedia and other open education projects, and students.

Oh dear, it does. :D I really need to rethink those tables, they *look* so 2007. Yeah one of my plans (which I meant to roll out with the census statistics but missed the boat on) was to design an article template to replace stubs for Perth suburbs. I might still aim for that :) Have taken photos in 40+ suburbs for Commons so might try and integrate with that too. Not sure what to do about these edits to List of cities in Australia by population. The refs seem to have been screwed up and the actions don't seem supported by the discussion that we had, but I'm a bit too busy to sort it out and I didn't want to do a wholesale revert. --AussieLegend (talk) 04:44, 2 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"2012-08-02T04:44:00.000Z","author":"AussieLegend","type":"comment","level":1,"id":"c-AussieLegend-2012-08-02T04:44:00.000Z-List_of_cities_in_Australia_by_population","replies":["c-Orderinchaos-2012-08-02T16:18:00.000Z-AussieLegend-2012-08-02T04:44:00.000Z"]}}-->

So do 99% of biographies on Wikipedia. But the tag is about priority. Tagging 99% of articles on Wikipedia is not the goal here - "reqphoto" is short for "requested photo". If someone actually has a particular need for the photo, the tag should be used. This is not the case in this situation. This is to let you know that an ongoing poll is taking place to move Burma to Myanmar. The former Shire of Melton is now a city. Not sure what else needs to be done to the article etc. to reflect this. Also, the infobox and the cats say it was established in 1994 yet the Council webiste suggests they are celebrating their 150th anniversary. As I recall, Melton was one of the few Victorian LGAs that was not abolished and recreated. Cool - the major thing is usually its constituent suburb articles and also infoboxes in neighbouring LGAs. And yeah, for some reason the article said 1862 and gave a whole history while the infobox said 1994... I've gone with that and changed the infobox accordingly. Hi, I am not familiar with the editing process of Wikipedia in the slightest, so I'm asking you some questions, as you were involved with the deletion of an article I believe deserves to be re-instated (re-created?), I hope this is ok!
The page for Left Right Think-Tank was deleted in March 2010 for lack of notability Left_Right_Think_Tank.
Left Right has significantly grown in the past years, and I believe there are sufficient verifiable, independent sources.
To be clear, I most certainly have a conflict of interest, as I am a volunteer for Left Right.
What I'm asking is how I should go about this. Should I just create the page and make clear my affiliations? Should I request the creation?
Thank you

My advice would be to create it at User:JakeSpi/Left Right Think Tank as if you were creating an article, and basically get it to a stage where it could be published into article space if the go-ahead is given. Once that's done, then let me know, and we can get a neutral admin to decide whether it's OK for copying to article space. (A fair few read this page so we may not have to look very far.) The key things it needs are a neutral tone of voice and independent references which substantiate the organisation's work, especially if they're books, academic journal articles or news articles. Hope this is of use. It's a ridiculously incomplete list if the ACC's website is anything to go by - I found 60 affiliated churches just in Perth. Hi Mate,
I made a change to this article, but note that it states that nominates it as "a stop on the Transwa bus service from Perth to Albany". This is not the direct route, but the 'long bus' that goes through the wheatbelt. I sure you will appreciate how crucially important this is, and that the reference deadlinks; God forbid our legacy should be erroneous information about a corner of our blue dot in the universe.
Hope all well with you,

This just to let you know, since you're listed as a member of Wikipedia:WikiProject Australian Roads but haven't commented at the discussion, that there is a proposal to upgrade the code for {{Infobox Australian road}} currently underway. The proposal includes a number of completely optional functionality enhancements and some very minor layout changes but otherwise, the code is 100% backward compatible with the existing version of the template. The code has been built from code recently and successfully incorporated into {{Infobox Australian place}}. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited County of Canning, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Caloundra, Queensland (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

I was just about to write on your talk page to ask what you remembered from 2008 about the List of divisional boards in Queensland when I spotted your edit. I've just spent the afternoon in the Qld State Library reading: An explanation of the Divisional Boards Act : followed by the full text thereof, and the boundaries of the divisions : with alphabetical indices which lists the boards established by the 1879 Act. I found a few differences to your list (a few more and a few less), so I was wondering where your list came from, and what we might do to reconcile these various lists. I have also been using the Qld State Archives agency search to track down the history of these former LGAs, but it seems even the State Archives has a less than comprehensive coverage of this thrilling topic, but I was thinking of enlisting their help on the curly cases as they may info above and beyond what's in Archives Search. So I was hoping to collaborate and see if we can't produce the definitive list of former LGAs and the various dates and predecessor/successor organisations associated with them. If you prefer email (as I do), I'm available at [email protected]Kerry (talk) 07:07, 19 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"2013-08-19T07:07:00.000Z","author":"Kerry Raymond","type":"comment","level":1,"id":"c-Kerry_Raymond-2013-08-19T07:07:00.000Z-Queensland_former_LGAs","replies":["c-Kerry_Raymond-2013-08-22T08:56:00.000Z-Kerry_Raymond-2013-08-19T07:07:00.000Z"],"displayName":"Kerry"}}-->
Yeah the whole thing needs an update. I have the original list as gazetted on 11 November 1879 from the Queensland Government Gazette (which is now downloadable up until 1900, but the files are huge). The Archives collection as you say is very very incomplete. On 31 March 1903 they all became shires. I did a heap of research on it at the time back in 2008-09 (some here, some at the University of Melbourne library) but never actually got beyond doing up the vast majority of the former LGA articles with histories with the information. (A couple, like the renaming of Auburn to Mundubbera, were not even known to the councils concerned or recorded anywhere that I could find and I stumbled on them in gazettes while completing an entirely different series of articles...) There's also a very incomplete Local government in Queensland article I started, have research stuff to extend but never finished. Incidentally if you can find them the early census publications (as in 1920s or so) contained the foundation dates of all then-existing shires. I took photos of them but some of my photos are not very clear and the info isn't obtainable in WA. Orderinchaos 18:18, 21 August 2013 (UC)
Gosh, you have been busy on this! And thanks for the URL for the Govt Gazette as I had not known they were online (huge but potentially very useful for a range of WP content). Since I'm in Brisbane, if there are any documents that need to be physically consulted, I can do this (give me a yell). No worries - it prompted me to do a probably five-year overdue task. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited City of Shellharbour, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Yellow Rock, New South Wales (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Well, I took a few of the old neighbourhood north of the airport, but it is gone, and the development which was to take its place only seems to be 5% built. I don't think I'll put them on. An extremely unexpected development on the British New Guinea side: in POM New Guinea Pidgin seems to be universally spoken now which wasn't at all the case in the '90s much less the '70s and '80s! People from German New Guinea were forbidden to cross the line into British New Guinea for decades and decades after Australia was given administrative authority by the UK in 1905 after "federation" [sic] in 1900, and then seized it from Germany at the beginning of the First World War: non-white so not permitted into "Australian" territory till the 1970s! (Odd, and certainly not accomplishing the goal, by Indonesia yet again to rename Netherlands New Guinea, now as Papua!) Weirdly, I knew splendid Australians who couldn't go home because they were married to non-whites: ethnically Chinese or Melanesian! But of course hyper-awareness of complexion colour isn't limited to the American Deep South and Australia as widely thought. In Sindh, Pakistan, anyone pale is assumed to be a rural hick; one amazes people by being able to read at all, much less speak English. And on Bougainville and in the West Solomons it was outrageous when New Guinea Highlands student teachers were posted in the houses of teachers from the UK and Canada: "How dare you have that non-black in your house?!" "Well...look at me: I'm dead white!" "Ah, you just just like white; you're black inside. We like you and want you to stay. Don't worry, we're looking for a wife for you." Sorry for remaining anonymous with this message but....

Looks like an attempt at a whitewash. Need to be careful with the language though - in BLP situations it's probably best to use the exact words from the original article and check that that article isn't an outlier amongst others on the subject (Google News "archive" feature is good for checking this). Hello. I am contacting you because you are one of the editors/admins who is still active now, and was aware of the notoriously disruptive editor User:Betacommand, a.k.a User:Δ (Delta). As you probably know, he was eventually banned after a third arbitration case, due to the way he conducted himself in the pursuit of his main interest on Wikipedia, WP:NFCC enforcement.
What you may not know, is that he has evidently returned and has been editing as User:Werieth since 2012, in violation of that ban. After just a year, Werieth is already causing the same sort of disruption that Betacommand did - you may experience some deja vu by reading reports made about Werieth such as the one at the top of this AN archive. There are already several others. A quick perusal of Werieth's contributions will also reveal the same Betacommand-like self-assured approach, grounded in the belief that their edits are always "100% correct and 100% according to policy" (when the reality was that he made basic errors and pushed policy boundaries at a rate that, while acceptable in ordinary users for a time limited period, was found to be unacceptable in an editor with the edit rate and communication issues Betacommand had, especially given their inability to change)
I and others have already tried to expose his return via these sock puppet investigations, although as you can see, it's not getting far. That's not for the lack of an answerable case though - you can see the latest summary in this post. Most of the obstruction can be put down to the usual dysfunctional and counter-productive aspects of Wikipedia governance, which of course will always aid experienced WP:GAMErs like Betacommand.
But you may or may not be surprised to learn that the people obstructing this investigation the hardest are three admins whose own conflict of interest with regard to Betacommand/NFCC is best demonstrated in their own words - Black Kite (repeatedly deflects attention away from Werieth and onto accusers), Kww (blocks accusers, and has already unblocked Werieth once) and Future Perfect at Sunrise (has basically declared all out war on anyone who even whispers that Werieth might be Betacommand).
The purpose of this post is to raise awareness about his return, and hopefully persuade one or more of you to resubmit that SPI with the evidence I'm sure you will be able to compile using your own knowledge of Betacommand's characteristic traits. At the very least to prompt you to put his talk page on your watch lists and regularly review his contributions (although obviously, don't waste your time trying to deal with any issues you see on the flawed basis that he is just any old user).
Also obviously, you should also raise a red flag every time you see one of those three admins trying to further suppress the inevitable exposure of his ban evasion. If his return is to be covered up for an unnecessarily long time, it should at least be done simply through general incompetence, rather than obvious COI based abuse of the tools/trusted position of admin. A few emails to the arbcom members who dealt with Betacommand also probably wouldn't go amiss - if ordinary admins aren't bothered about this particular user's return (and you will remember, blinded by their enthusiasm for having someone, anyone, perform NFCC enforcement edits, a great many of them were unwilling to even admit his particular approach to that necessary work was a problem),
Betacommand's clandestine return to Wikipedia is bad enough as it is given that he has simply resumed where he left off in the NFCC enforcement field, with several users already having wasted a lot of time having to deal with him as if he were a legitimate user. But obviously the nightmare scenario if the cover-up is allowed to continue for another year, is if Werieth/Betacommand decides script assisted batch editing is not fast enough for his liking, and decides to take an altogether faster approach - possibly even trying to beat his "record". HTI 483 (talk) 17:18, 23 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"2013-12-23T17:18:00.000Z","author":"HTI 483","type":"comment","level":1,"id":"c-HTI_483-2013-12-23T17:18:00.000Z-Betacommand_is_back","replies":["c-Orderinchaos-2013-12-24T01:14:00.000Z-HTI_483-2013-12-23T17:18:00.000Z"]}}-->
I'm no longer that active on Wikipedia. I've had a very quick look and to be honest, there is circumstantial similarities in their approach which suggest it's the same person. Rather than creating sock accounts on Wiki to publicly protest about it, though, I'd suggest emailing the Arbitraton Committee on arbcom-l (at) lists.wikimedia.org - you'd need more specific evidence / examples than you've provided here but if a banned user is editing surreptitiously, they'd want to know. Hi, Oic! As you may or may not know, we have four de-amalgamated shires here in Queensland effective today:
I've gone through and updated the text in all 8 of these articles showing the 4 as being now de-amalgamated. But my problems are the maps. All the de-amalgamated shires are back to their old boundaries so their maps are OK, but the maps of the regional councils from which they are de-amalgamated are not OK. The maps were created by User:Roke who appears to have left Wikipedia/Commons in 2010. I am willing to have a go at updating the maps, but I just have no idea what tools/methods were used to create the maps in the first place. So I was wondering if you know anything about how those maps were created? Thanks Kerry (talk) 05:22, 1 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"2014-01-01T05:22:00.000Z","author":"Kerry Raymond","type":"comment","level":1,"id":"c-Kerry_Raymond-2014-01-01T05:22:00.000Z-De-amalgamated_Shires_in_Queensland","replies":["c-Orderinchaos-2014-01-02T11:17:00.000Z-Kerry_Raymond-2014-01-01T05:22:00.000Z"],"displayName":"Kerry"}}-->
Somewhere on Commons there is a template map (larger size) which was used to generate all the smaller ones. It's in the same Commons category as the maps themselves. I used it a few times to generate maps of early LGAs. In some cases a cheat way of copying the old lines onto a new map from, say, one in a different part of Queensland (which I have also done at times), so long as you save in GIF or PNG so the pixels aren't altered by compression, would work... I didn't just revert my previous edits. The copyright violations where corrected as far as I am aware with extensive revisions of offending paragraphs. The unencyclopedic lanaguage I guess is fair enough, but can I suggest it might be dealt with better through iterative edits given the fairly substantial contributions to the page my edits represent.Adondai (talk) 13:13, 22 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"2014-01-22T13:13:00.000Z","author":"Adondai","type":"comment","level":1,"id":"c-Adondai-2014-01-22T13:13:00.000Z-History_of_Perth","replies":[]}}-->

I am not sure how the conversation originated, but it was interesting reading your insight about Australia. I hope you will consider creating or improving a couple LGBT-related articles about Australia in conjunction with Wiki Loves Pride. If you make any edits, let me know or add them to the results page. I don't know much about the LGBT community or gay rights in Australia, so it would do me good to learn a thing or two. :) --Another Believer(Talk)02:36, 8 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"2014-06-08T02:36:00.000Z","author":"Another Believer","type":"comment","level":1,"id":"c-Another_Believer-2014-06-08T02:36:00.000Z-LGBT_in_Australia","replies":[]}}-->

Hey Orderinchaos,
You edited Transperth Fare Zone and removed all the suburbs and revised the system. I was the guy who added all the suburbs and started putting in heaps of the bus stations.
Would it be fine if you could put the page back the way it was before you edited it? I believe it is more practical, as it shows all the suburbs in that zone, so people can use that as a reference. Thanks!

Hi, OIC. While reviewing some old talk archives, I stumbled on your 2007 enquiry about the Progress Party. I can't recall replying, and must have missed it at the time. Let's know if you still need info. I had a minor advisory involvement with Richardson and other PP candidates in Perth around November 1977, following a fatal tiff I had with the Libs over their financing methods in Wanneroo. Earlier in Sydney (1974-5), I arranged a meeting of Doctors Reform Party/Workers' Party local leaders Dr Cunningham (pres) and Duncan Yuille (sec) and Australian Commonwealth Party candidate Max Fabre to discuss a preventive health-care policy (to which the WP turned out to be strongly opposed!!) It's possible that I may have some documentation in my wild and woolly career archive. Hi, Orderinchaos I am writing you, because I saw you blocked Mongo for the last time in 2008.
I dont know whom else to ask. Mongo is giving me trouble by reverting my completely proper and minor edits on Gary Weiss. He has reverted me
[1] and
[2], did not start a discussion and did not engage to my beginning of a discussion.
I know how to report for edit warring, but isnt this different because the page is "on probation"? I see no instructions how to act when the probation is violated, as in this case.
He has just replied with a nasty message moving intimidation up a notch with threat of a ban, insulting language of childishness.
PLease help!.--Wuerzele (talk) 06:10, 29 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"2015-03-29T06:10:00.000Z","author":"Wuerzele","type":"comment","level":1,"id":"c-Wuerzele-2015-03-29T06:10:00.000Z-Help_please","replies":["c-Orderinchaos-2015-03-29T12:12:00.000Z-Wuerzele-2015-03-29T06:10:00.000Z"]}}-->
Firstly, my role was an administrative one as part of an arbitration enforcement which was then current. Someone had blocked him for too long and I was reducing it to a more standard length. Anyway, in looking at this, blocking wouldn't be the right way to go about this.
I don't understand the issues under dispute - I've had a quick look and seen that you've made quite a few changes which have then been summarily reverted and that discussion seems to have hit a brick wall because only the two of you are present. You mention the article is on probation - that means it is an Arbcom issue, under the conditions of Wikipedia:Requests_for_arbitration/Mantanmoreland/Proposed_decision#Proposed_remedies. I'd edit on this topic very carefully in your situation, and if in doubt maybe raise a question by email to [email protected] if you need clarification. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Hi. Do you have the time to look at the recent history of Louise Pratt and my talk page, and just check that things are left in a reasonable state? I added new info, with references, but not the part I was actually looking for, some has been improved and some removed by a user who claims to be the subject's former partner. I don't know where to look for better references, and not sure exactly how much is encyclopaedic vs personally invasive now, either :-/ I'm hoping you have a better idea of what is "known" in WA that should be included or not. Done - I was unaware of this myself, and that's given I know one person involved and have met the other! I asked discreetly among mutual personal friends and was then able to confirm the identity of the poster, and also the broad-brush facts of the situation. So it seems it's OK. Although this would normally be a COI situation for the poster, it was an unusual case where BLP trumped it. Thank you. I felt the poster was very aware of the COI issues as well as seeking to correct the content of the article, especially as it related to himself. Extended confirmed protection (also known as "30/500 protection") is a new level of page protection that only allows edits from accounts at least 30 days old and with 500 edits. The automatically assigned "extended confirmed" user right was created for this purpose. The protection level was created following this community discussion with the primary intention of enforcing various arbitration remedies that prohibited editors under the "30 days/500 edits" threshold to edit certain topic areas.
In July and August 2016, a request for comment established consensus for community use of the new protection level. Administrators are authorized to apply extended confirmed protection to combat any form of disruption (e.g. vandalism, sock puppetry, edit warring, etc.) on any topic, subject to the following conditions:
Extended confirmed protection may only be used in cases where semi-protection has proven ineffective. It should not be used as a first resort.
Please review the protection policy carefully before using this new level of protection on pages. Thank you. This message was sent to the administrators' mass message list. To opt-out of future messages, please remove yourself from the list. 17:49, 23 September 2016 (UTC)

Hello,
Please note that TOTP based two-factor authentication is now available for all administrators. In light of the recent compromised accounts, you are encouraged to add this additional layer of security to your account. It may be enabled on your preferences page in the "User profile" tab under the "Basic information" section. For basic instructions on how to enable two-factor authentication, please see the developing help page for additional information. Important: Be sure to record the two-factor authentication key and the single use keys. If you lose your two factor authentication and do not have the keys, it's possible that your account will not be recoverable. Furthermore, you are encouraged to utilize a unique password and two-factor authentication for the email account associated with your Wikimedia account. This measure will assist in safeguarding your account from malicious password resets. Comments, questions, and concerns may be directed to the thread on the administrators' noticeboard. Hi Orderinchaos.
A new user group, New Page Reviewer, has been created in a move to greatly improve the standard of new page patrolling. The user right can be granted by any admin at PERM. It is highly recommended that admins look beyond the simple numerical threshold and satisfy themselves that the candidates have the required skills of communication and an advanced knowledge of notability and deletion. Admins are automatically included in this user right.
It is anticipated that this user right will significantly reduce the work load of admins who patrol the performance of the patrollers. However, due to the complexity of the rollout, some rights may have been accorded that may later need to be withdrawn, so some help will still be needed to some extent when discovering wrongly applied deletion tags or inappropriate pages that escape the attention of less experienced reviewers, and above all, hasty and bitey tagging for maintenance. User warnings are available here but very often a friendly custom message works best.
If you have any questions about this user right, don't hesitate to join us at WT:NPR. Hello, Orderinchaos. Voting in the 2016 Arbitration Committee elections is open from Monday, 00:00, 21 November through Sunday, 23:59, 4 December to all unblocked users who have registered an account before Wednesday, 00:00, 28 October 2016 and have made at least 150 mainspace edits before Sunday, 00:00, 1 November 2016.
The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
If you wish to participate in the 2016 election, please review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Hi there, Orderinchaos! I am just working on the Treasury Building, Brisbane yet-another Queensland Heritage Register property (for which your photos have been a useful source of images for various QHR properties) when I bumped into this one which is mislabelled. It is not the Treasury Building (that is the building behind you when you took the photo) but rather the Land Administration Building. The source of your confusion is easily understood as both buildings were bought by the Treasury Casino where the Treasury building houses the gaming rooms of the casino and Land Administration Building houses the associated hotel. So I wondered if you could rename the file and put it into the Commons category Land Administration Building, Brisbane Thanks Kerry (talk) 07:00, 11 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"2017-05-11T07:00:00.000Z","author":"Kerry Raymond","type":"comment","level":1,"id":"c-Kerry_Raymond-2017-05-11T07:00:00.000Z-Mislabelled_photo_on_Commons","replies":["c-Kerry_Raymond-2017-05-11T07:09:00.000Z-Kerry_Raymond-2017-05-11T07:00:00.000Z"],"displayName":"Kerry"}}-->

Thanks for uploading File:GPT Group (Logo).png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. I'm writing you this followup message, as you took the time to vote in support of a Wikipedia banner campaign for the introduction of Fair Use in Australia.
Furthermore, and with the support of the ADA & EFA, we have received fantastic media coverage - with article "Fair Use: Wikipedia targets Australians in bid to change the law" appearing on page 2 of the Sydney Morning Herald and page 10 of the Melbourne Age on Monday's edition. It was for a time the 3rd most read article the Fairfax website, and Fair Use was "trending" on Twitter in Australia. We are running the account @FairCopyrightOz on twitter, and we are tracking other press-mentions on the talkpage on Meta.
Today, day 2, we published a detailed post about the campaign on the Wikimedia Blog, ran an "Ask Me Anything" Q&A session on the Australia page in Reddit, and [by happy coincidence of timing] the article History of fair use proposals in Australia appeared on the en.wp mainpage as a Did You Know. [The creation of that "history of..." article was a specific request arising from in the community consultation in which you voted].
And, most importantly, in a little more than a day nearly 800 letters to MPs have been sent encouraging them to support the Productivity Commission's recommendation to adopt Fair Use in Australia. I urge you - please add your own message.
Sincerely, Wittylama16:10, 23 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"2017-05-23T16:10:00.000Z","author":"Wittylama","type":"comment","level":2,"id":"c-Wittylama-2017-05-23T16:10:00.000Z-Fair_Use_in_Australia_campaign_update","replies":[],"displayName":"Witty"}}-->

Please explain why you deleted this page. It is not immediately obvious how this is "housekeeping". Populated places are "typically presumed to be notable" per WP:GEOLAND so would not normally be subject to CSD. In 2009 there was a mass bot creation drive of articles from a horrifically unreliable site, and a bunch of us were deleting the products. We did not have time to verify them, but using this method meant that if someone wanted to recreate the article and tend and water it, so to speak, there was no objection to doing so. Certainly, if there's good cause to recreate it, simply do so (though don't use fallingrain as a source). Hi @Cygnis insignis:, great to hear from you :) Back studying Data Science, hope all is well in your world.
That template is just the official regions as established in the 1980s by the Burke government and maintained by governments of both stripes ever since. There's so many issues, some of the definitions actually conflict (eg Perth metro and Peel both contain Serpentine-Jarrahdale), there's no logical reason why some shires are Wheatbelt while others are Great Southern when they are economically and socially almost identical, and we're literally the only state with official definitions. Also older regions like the Murchison, Dundas etc have fallen into disuse even though they were actually useful. Just your cup of tea, and I want to ask you about constructing queries of taxonomic data sets one day.
I came across the term 'Midlands' the other day, anything beyond Guildford I think, and still raise an eyebrow when the country beyond the scarp is referred to as the 'mountain region'. Anyway, if the box was about bio- eco- or geo- regionalisation then people would expect a descriptor in the title. Few blink when it is arbitrary economic and political divisions that are presented as the regions ('cos hegemony?) but I think the type or class of these needs to be explicit.
