hey man, not trying to vandalize anything, i just think that alot of what is considered [citation needed] is public knowledge in this day and age about one of the most celebrated baseball players of the 1990-2000s. He is also known to be a CF, RF, DH, occasional LF and 1B. I understand the want to verify and make this page as completely encyclopedic as possible; however, again, a lot of this IS public knowledge and thusly needs no citation. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.55.75.135 (talk) June 16, 2011, 19:47 (UTC)

If ESPN changes their profile page that should be enough with all the articles. They are the Worldwide leader and you think they would know more than us chumps if it was official or not. They'd have more egg on their face if it wasn't and they update their page than us. Why would ESPN and those other sites change it if it were going to fall through? They'd look like fools. It's done. Stop being angry, controlling trolls who think they own this site. Why are you insistent on leaving out relevant information simply because it doesn't neatly fit into the article? It is important information. I am adding it again. Before you take out the relevant information, feel free to bring it up with the Baseball project. You are giving no valid reason to take it out. I've given the reason. You're putting information on a posting that is still pending in inappropriate sections. Maybe we should have a section specifically for "pending" postings, but neither of those tables as they stand are appropriate for Nakajima, Darvish, or any other Japanese players in the process of being posted. – Muboshgu (talk) 00:20, 12 December 2011 (UTC)__DTREPLYBUTTONSCONTENT__-->__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"2011-12-12T00:20:00.000Z","author":"Muboshgu","type":"comment","level":2,"id":"c-Muboshgu-2011-12-12T00:20:00.000Z-Torsodog-2011-12-12T00:18:00.000Z","replies":[]}}-->

Hello, and welcome to the 2012 WikiCup! The competition officially begins at the start of 2012 (UTC) after which time you may begin to claim points. Your submission page, where you must note any content for which you wish to claim points, can be found here, and formatting instructions can be found in hidden comments on the page. A bot will then update the main table, which can be seen on the WikiCup page. The full rules for what will and will not be awarded points can be found at Wikipedia:WikiCup/Scoring. There's also a section on that page listing the changes that have been made to the rules this year, so that experienced participants can get up-to-date in a few seconds. One point of which we must remind everyone; you may only claim points for content upon which you have done significant work, and which you have nominated, in 2012. For instance, articles written or good article reviews started in 2011 are not eligible for points.
This round will last until late February, and signups will remain open until the middle of February. If you know of anyone who may like to take part, please let them know about the comeptition; the more the merrier! At the end of this round, the top 64 scorers will progress to the next round, where their scores will reset, and they will be split into pools. Note that, by default, you have been added to our newsletter list; we will be in contact at the end of every month with news. You're welcome to remove yourself from this list if you do not wish to hear from us. Conversely, those interested in following the competition are more than welcome to add themselves to the list. Please direct any questions towards the judges, or on the WikiCup talk page. Good luck! Exactly, "pending physical". That means he wasn't signed, only that he will be signed IF he passes the physical. And that's an "if". He's a 37 year old pitcher, and he could fail that physical, nullifying the deal. Frankly, anything greater than a zero percent chance is enough. I understand, I guess, but I don't agree. Much of the work was done in 2012. What would that rule mean for Bonnie Newman? I nominated that article in December 2011, but nobody has started the review. It is assumed that most of the work on an article would have been done by the time you go to GAN (which is also good practice, but that's a side point). So unfortunately any article nominated in 2011 is not eligible. Yeah, just to back up what Ed said. Taking it out of the queue and then putting it back in would be gaming the system, and so that wouldn't count either. I'm afraid this is something that the WikiCup has become more strict on in time. However, as it's quite easy to pass into the second round, it shouldn't matter. In the second round, the rule is still that content must have been nominated this year, so any content you nominated during round 1 will still count. Hope this clears things up. You are right re: gaming the system on GA queues. However, this sounds very restrictive in terms of what work was done when. All the articles I want to promote to GA, FA, or FL status, I've edited before 2012. It says on the WikiCup pages you want to honor the spirit of the rules over the letter. That makes no sense. I can understand the past talk of not wanting to do the tagging, but undoing my tagging? If it belongs to the project, it should be tagged by the project. Frankly, this is why I don't want to become a member of the project. It makes more sense to update the image rather than uploading it under a new file name because this way the old image can still be preserved in case they change the name back (as they very well might). Otherwise the old file will just be deleted as a copyright violation as it will no longer be used in the article and therefore no longer qualify under fair use. There's plenty of speculation that Larkin will be selected, but the announcement is not a done deal yet, as far as I know. MLB.com supposedly has live coverage, if you want to watch. It was my mistake, as I saw the IP trying to add him and some sources that I now see are not up to par, including some from allegedly reputable sources. I just took a look at the taskforce's scope, and it appears pretty vague. "dedicated to improving articles covering the African American baseball experience—players, leagues, and teams—prior to the full racial integration of organized baseball (that is, from the mid 1800s through the early 1960s)." Under this, the definition would cover these early integrated leagues. Whether it should cover the white players who played within them might seem outside of the scope due to the 'African American baseball experience' clause. Might be worth asking.Neonblaktalk - 21:48, 17 January 2012 (UTC)__DTREPLYBUTTONSCONTENT__-->__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"2012-01-17T21:48:00.000Z","author":"Neonblak","type":"comment","level":5,"id":"c-Neonblak-2012-01-17T21:48:00.000Z-Muboshgu-2012-01-17T15:52:00.000Z","replies":["c-Muboshgu-2012-01-17T22:59:00.000Z-Neonblak-2012-01-17T21:48:00.000Z"]}}-->

I have removed the {{prod}} tag from Vintage Base Ball Federation, which you proposed for deletion. I'm leaving this message here to notify you about it. If you still think the article should be deleted, please don't add the {{prod}} template back to the article. Instead, feel free to list it at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion. Thanks!
I'm debating whether or not to AfD it now. I know those sources are out there, but there are none in the past five years, suggesting this league will never happen, and that it may therefore not be notable. – Muboshgu (talk) 23:30, 23 January 2012 (UTC)__DTREPLYBUTTONSCONTENT__-->__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"2012-01-23T23:30:00.000Z","author":"Muboshgu","type":"comment","level":1,"id":"c-Muboshgu-2012-01-23T23:30:00.000Z-Vintage_Base_Ball_Federation","replies":[]}}-->

What is the best course of action for the GA nomination at Foley Square trial? The GA reviewer started the review, then failed it 4 hours later, before I (the nominator) had a chance to reply. I think the reviewer got confused because he saw a PR nomination also. The reviewer is, apparently, rather new to the process, and did not consider waiting a day or two for the nominator to reply to his concerns. It is not a big deal: but I maintain the GA review did not fail. It was simply closed mistakenly. Certainly there is a process for handling that situation and just re-setting the GA nomination back to "in progress"? --Noleander (talk) 02:26, 26 January 2012 (UTC)__DTREPLYBUTTONSCONTENT__-->__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"2012-01-26T02:26:00.000Z","author":"Noleander","type":"comment","level":1,"id":"c-Noleander-2012-01-26T02:26:00.000Z-Help_needed_with_GA_at_Talk:Foley_Square_trial","replies":["c-Muboshgu-2012-01-26T02:32:00.000Z-Noleander-2012-01-26T02:26:00.000Z"]}}-->
I noticed the article fail and come back up, which caught my eye since sometimes articles are failed for good reason and renominated without any regard for the review that was done. In this case, I see what you mean. You're not supposed to nominate an article for GA and PR at the same time. On the other hand, it looks like that review was closed prematurely. You might be better off putting it back in the queue and waiting for someone else to pick it up. If you want to discuss what happened at a larger forum, you can create a thread at WT:GAN. – Muboshgu (talk) 02:32, 26 January 2012 (UTC)__DTREPLYBUTTONSCONTENT__-->__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"2012-01-26T02:32:00.000Z","author":"Muboshgu","type":"comment","level":2,"id":"c-Muboshgu-2012-01-26T02:32:00.000Z-Noleander-2012-01-26T02:26:00.000Z","replies":["c-Noleander-2012-01-26T02:35:00.000Z-Muboshgu-2012-01-26T02:32:00.000Z"]}}-->
Thanks for the quick reply. I think the reviewer was acting in good faith, just not very experienced. It was a mistake for me to nominate for PR, and I quickly cancelled that nomination. My preference is to continue the GA process with the original reviewer, and perhaps use this as a learning opportunity (for both of us :-) I'm sure he and I can work it out and get the article to GA status. Anyway, would you object if I removed the "Failed GA" template ... since it is not really an accurate statement? --Noleander (talk) 02:35, 26 January 2012 (UTC)__DTREPLYBUTTONSCONTENT__-->__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"2012-01-26T02:35:00.000Z","author":"Noleander","type":"comment","level":3,"id":"c-Noleander-2012-01-26T02:35:00.000Z-Muboshgu-2012-01-26T02:32:00.000Z","replies":["c-Muboshgu-2012-01-26T02:39:00.000Z-Noleander-2012-01-26T02:35:00.000Z"]}}-->
No problem. I don't know about removing the template, since it is part of the article's history, whether it was a full and accurate review or not. It shouldn't really matter anyway. WikiCup 2012 is off to a flying start. At the time of writing, we have 112 contestants; comparable to last year, but slightly fewer than 2010. Signups will remain open for another week, after which time they will be closed for this year. Our currrent far-away leader is Grapple X (submissions), due mostly to his work on a slew of good articles about The X-Files; there remain many such articles waiting to be reviewed at good article candidates. Second place is currently held by Ruby2010 (submissions), whose points come mostly from good articles about television episodes, although good article reviews, did you knows and an article about a baroness round out the score. In third place is Jivesh boodhun (submissions), who has scored 200 points for his work on a single featured article, as well as points for work on others, mostly in the area of pop music. In all, nine users have 100 or more points. However, at the other end of the scale, there are still dozens of participants who are yet to score. Please remember to update your submission pages promptly!
The 64 highest scoring participants will advance to round 2 in a month's time. There, they will be split into eight random groups of eight. The score needed to reach the next round is not at all clear; last year, 8 points guaranteed a place. The year before, 20.
A few participants and their work warrant a mention for achieving "firsts" in this competition.
12george1 (submissions) was also the first to score points for an article, thanks to his work on Hurricane Debby (1982)- now a good article. Tropical storms have featured heavily in the Cup, and good articles currently have a relatively fast turnaround time for reviews.
Sp33dyphil (submissions) is also the first person to successfully claim bonus points. Terminator 2: Judgment Day is now a good article, and was eligible for bonus points because the subject was covered on more than 20 other Wikipedias at the start of the competition. It is fantastic to see bonus points being claimed so early!
Speciate (submissions) was the first to score points for an In the News entry, with Paedophryne amauensis. The lead image from the article was also used on the main page for a time, and it's certainly eye-catching!
Jivesh boodhun (submissions) was the first to score points for a featured article, and is, at the moment, the only competitor to claim for one. The article, "Halo" (Beyoncé Knowles song), was also worth double points because of its wide coverage. While this is an article that Jivesh and others have worked on for some time, it is undeniable that he has put considerable work into it this year, pushing it over the edge.
We are yet to see any featured lists, featured topics or good topics, but this is unsurprising; firstly, the nomination processes with each of these can take some time, and, secondly, it can take a considerable amount of time to work content to this level. In a similar vein, we have seen only one featured article. The requirement that content must have been worked on this year to be eligible means that we did not expect to see these at the start of the competition. No points have been claimed for featured portals or pictures, but these are not content types which are often claimed; the former has never made a big impact on the WikiCup, while the latter has not done so since 2009's competition.
A quick rules clarification before the regular notices: If you are concerned that another user is claiming points inappropriately, please contact a judge to take a look at the article. Competitors policing one another can create a bad atmosphere, and may lead to inconsistencies and mistakes. Rest assured that we, the judges, are making an effort to check submissions, but it is possible that we will miss something. On a loosely related note: If you are concerned that your nomination, be it at good article candidates, a featured process or anywhere else, will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. However, please remember to continue to offer reviews at GAC, FAC and all the other pages that require them to prevent any backlogs which could otherwise be caused by the Cup. As ever, questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup and the judges are reachable on their talk pages, or by email. Good luck! I disagree with you suggestion my edit to Yoenis Cespedes's wikipedia page was not a productive edit. Yoenis Cespedes is the correct spelling for the Cuban baseball player / MLB free agent.
This is displayed in the following article, published by ESPN.
Included in this article: "Just to clarify, although some reports have spelled Cespedes' first name with two "n's, the correct spelling calls for only one, Katz said."
"Katz" is Adam Katz, Cespedes's player agent.
This is a reputable source and proof that I am correct. The way you made the changes was not constructive in that they broke the page formatting. Also, you hadn't provided that source. Can I request that you don't nominate articles until they ready. Darrelle Revis could easily be failed and many of the problems are the same as those noted in Grandersons. David Freese is much better, but there was still a citation needed tag present at the time of nominating. You can write Good articles so I am assuming you are nominating early to compensate for the backlog. I don't think this helps much as it can end up wasting reviewers time and in effect just makes the backlog worse. I know the intent is that an article should be at GA standards before it's nominated, but as you mentioned, the way it works with this backlog, I can usually make most of the changes needed before it gets reviewed. Revis' might have been a premature nomination, and I see the problems you're talking about, so I pulled the nomination for now. I'll work on it more and renominate it another time though. Freese's is ready for a full review, though. I just nominated it yesterday and I removed the cn tag as you were posting this on my talk page. – Muboshgu (talk) 01:22, 5 February 2012 (UTC)__DTREPLYBUTTONSCONTENT__-->__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"2012-02-05T01:22:00.000Z","author":"Muboshgu","type":"comment","level":2,"id":"c-Muboshgu-2012-02-05T01:22:00.000Z-Aircorn-2012-02-05T01:17:00.000Z","replies":["c-Aircorn-2012-02-05T01:48:00.000Z-Muboshgu-2012-02-05T01:22:00.000Z"]}}-->
Thanks for that. You are not the only one that does this; I just noticed yours since I had only recently reviewed Granderson. I had a bit of a rant about this at WT:GAN with JClemens, but don't think there is an easy solution without keeping the backlog down (something that may never happen). I worked on some edits for this page and see you are a major contributor. I did not put any of these on-line but I altered two others who work on page. Take what you want. Technically it was 527 organization and not 501 C... I added many cross links and see disclosure I wrote it and decide.
I see that this is a new editor without much experience... Other than the 527 organization suggestion (where I don't agree we need to get into for the article), I can't figure out what changes s/he wants to make without perhaps putting the two side-by-side - and I don't want to take the time to do that. Unless it's a major re-write, do you think we should just say to put in the changes (one-by-one and not all in one edit) and we'll go from there? Americans for a Better Tomorrow, Tomorrow[1] (better known as the Colbert Super PAC) is a United States political action committee (PAC) established by Stephen Colbert, who portrays a conservativepolitical pundit on the television series The Colbert Report. As a super PAC the organization can raise unlimited sums of money from corporations, unions and other groups, as well as wealthy individuals.[2][3] Speaking in character, Colbert said the money will be raised not only for political ads, but also "normal administrative expenses, including but not limited to, luxury hotel stays, private jet travel, and PAC mementos from Saks Fifth Avenue and Neiman Marcus."[4]
During the January 12, 2012 episode of The Colbert Report, Colbert announced his plans to form an exploratory committee to lay the groundwork for his possible candidacy for "President of the United States of South Carolina." In the process, he transferred control of the Super PAC to Jon Stewart, renaming it The Definitely Not Coordinating With Stephen Colbert Super PAC. On January 30, 2012, Stewart transferred the super PAC back to Colbert.
In a January 31, 2012 Federal Election Commission filing, the Super PAC reported raising over $1.02 million.[5] During this announcement of his million dollar earnings on February 2, 2012, Colbert stated a call to the nation to Google Bomb Super PAC's definition to "A frothy mix of lube and campaign funding that is sometimes the byproduct of politics."[6]. The next day, DefineSuperPac.com[7] was registered and posted Stephen's new definition on the landing page. This all being a reference to Rick Santorum's Google Problems.

I have a question on Cody Martin (baseball). Why does he get his own article and not a mention on the Atlanta Braves minor league prospect page? I see you write a cajillion baseball articles, so you are an expert on this. I understand if a player was drafted in the 1st round or was in the Olympics. I just want to get an understating of cases like this one. It's become an informal consensus among WP:BASEBALL editors (though it's not yet written into WP:NSPORTS, I'll propose it) that we should consider college baseball First Team All-Americans to be notable. In the three cases I'm working on today (Martin, Michael Roth (baseball) and Jason Krizan), they seem to meet GNG. The individuals on those minor league prospect pages generally don't have the same level of notability, though I'm sure some of them do deserve their own pages already. – Muboshgu (talk) 21:49, 15 February 2012 (UTC)__DTREPLYBUTTONSCONTENT__-->__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"2012-02-15T21:49:00.000Z","author":"Muboshgu","type":"comment","level":2,"id":"c-Muboshgu-2012-02-15T21:49:00.000Z-Bgwhite-2012-02-15T21:44:00.000Z","replies":["c-Bgwhite-2012-02-15T22:16:00.000Z-Muboshgu-2012-02-15T21:49:00.000Z"]}}-->

I don't think that having a second image of Greinke really adds anything to the article, when it's a picture of him with the same team, and from the same year, as the infobox image. On the other hand, this image is an image of him from the 2009 All-Star game, and I feel like that would contribute more to the article than just another image of him with the Royals. Do you agree? Simply put, the deal is not done. Even that article about Barajas uses terms like "imminent reunion" to indicate that it's not a done deal of any sort. Well thank you. When I was looking at that SPI earlier today I threw my name in a log and found that I created my account about 14 months earlier than the edit counter registered my first edit. I don't know why I had an account I didn't use for more than a year, but I guess that counts even if I didn't edit anything. – Muboshgu (talk) 00:01, 25 February 2012 (UTC)__DTREPLYBUTTONSCONTENT__-->__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"2012-02-25T00:01:00.000Z","author":"Muboshgu","type":"comment","level":2,"id":"c-Muboshgu-2012-02-25T00:01:00.000Z-Bgwhite-2012-02-24T22:44:00.000Z","replies":["c-Bgwhite-2012-02-25T00:42:00.000Z-Muboshgu-2012-02-25T00:01:00.000Z"]}}-->
I really didn't edit for my first few years either. Saying 6 years is much more impressive sounding, so hey keep it. Doesn't everybody fudge their age? My wife said I acted like a four-year old when we got married. She now says I've grown up and now I'm more of a six-year old... on a good day. Hi. In your recent article edits, you've added some links pointing to disambiguation pages. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Hello,
I'm hoping you can help me with an edit on the Francis Bicknell Carpenter wiki entry. The article contains a new entry by Jrcrin001 listed under "Portrait of Mary Todd Lincoln." This entry has to do with my discovery that the portrait of Mary was a fake. He or she is currently not taking talk contacts so I am not able to talk to that editor. The last line of his entry says: "Mr. Bauman is quoted to say, "Not only is it not Mary Lincoln, it's not Francis Carpenter."[10]" The footnote then directs people to the NY Times article.
This is not the original source for this quote--the quote is taken from my Case Study that the NY Times reporter used. I know that wiki prefers original sources so I tried to make the edit myself but since it was my first time I kept getting all these error messages--you'll see that in the editing history. I thought to myself I better not mess this up.
I think the NY Times quote and footnote should be left as is since it was amazing to me they put my discovery on the front page--but I'm hoping you could add a line after the quote stating. "This quote is drawn from Barry Bauman's Case Study on his discovery." and make this footnote 11. Then under footnote 11 add "The Demise of Mary Lincoln: An Artistic Conspiracy." linking to
I hope this is not too much trouble for you. I would appreciate an email reply to the email address at the bottom of every page from the above link. Thank you for your help.

I think you should ask that user as opposed to me. Jrcrin001 is still actively editing. Wikipedia prefers secondary sources over primary. – Muboshgu (talk) 19:31, 27 February 2012 (UTC)__DTREPLYBUTTONSCONTENT__-->__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"2012-02-27T19:31:00.000Z","author":"Muboshgu","type":"comment","level":2,"id":"c-Muboshgu-2012-02-27T19:31:00.000Z-Barrybauman-2012-02-27T19:01:00.000Z","replies":[]}}-->
Thank you for your reply--I did try to do that of course but his talk note says he is not presently available (if you click on his talk address you will see what I mean)--so I just went to another editor on the Carpenter article for help--the Times reporter quoted from my Study and therefore the footnote should be changed to the earlier link--because Jrcrin001 is not available can you make the change?
