Hello Megalibrarygirl/Archives/2020,

Source Guide Discussion

The first NPP source guide discussion is now underway. It covers a wide range of sources in Ghana with the goal of providing more guidance to reviewers about sources they might see when reviewing pages. Hopefully, new page reviewers will join others interested in reliable sources and those with expertise in these sources to make the discussion a success.

Redirects

New to NPP? Looking to try something a little different? Consider patrolling some redirects. Redirects are relatively easy to review, can be found easily through the New Pages Feed. You can find more information about how to patrol redirects at WP:RPATROL.

Discussions and Resources
Refresher

Geographic regions, areas and places generally do not need general notability guideline type sourcing. When evaluating whether an article meets this notability guideline please also consider whether it might actually be a form of WP:SPAM for a development project (e.g. PR for a large luxury residential development) and not actually covered by the guideline.

Hello Megalibrarygirl, I was looking for some advice on an article for a curator/writer who is now deceased. I've done research and find multiple shows they've curated and several reviews that they've written for shows primarily in the 1980's. The artist is draft:Merike Talve. I am not sure she will meet the notability criteria but I've been researching an creating an article for her because she was an amazing writer and a really good curator. One highly notable artist that she curated a show for would be "Television spots: Stan Douglas" (1988) at the Contemporary Art Gallery in Vancouver.

I've not yet tried to write an article about a curator/writer and would greatly appreciate any advice you may have or if you created an article I could take a look at. Thank you!! Regards, LorriBrown (talk) 00:46, 25 February 2020 (UTC)__DTREPLYBUTTONSCONTENT__-->__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"2020-02-25T00:46:00.000Z","author":"LorriBrown","type":"comment","level":1,"id":"c-LorriBrown-2020-02-25T00:46:00.000Z-New_article_for_a_writer\/curator","replies":["c-LorriBrown-2020-02-26T00:32:00.000Z-LorriBrown-2020-02-25T00:46:00.000Z"]}}-->

@LorriBrown: I haven't done a lot of curators! I think it would help to find a biographical sketch on her and some reviews of her own curation work in art magazines. I checked Project MUSE, JSTOR and EBSCOhost and didn't find anything on her. I wonder if there might be more sources in French, too? Are you bilingual? 00:32, 26 February 2020 (UTC)__DTREPLYBUTTONSCONTENT__-->__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"2020-02-26T00:32:00.000Z","author":"LorriBrown","type":"comment","level":2,"id":"c-LorriBrown-2020-02-26T00:32:00.000Z-LorriBrown-2020-02-25T00:46:00.000Z","replies":["c-LorriBrown-2020-02-26T17:42:00.000Z-LorriBrown-2020-02-26T00:32:00.000Z"]}}-->
Megalibrarygirl, No unfortunately I am not bilingual. I've looked for reviews and so far have found none. I've found some articles where her writing has been quoted though but nothing dedicated to her specifically. I've wondered about how common that would be for a writer to write a reivew about another writer. This is why I was pondering about the criteria for curators. She did not receive an award but she did curate some artists who have gone on to be quite successful. Best I can tell so far her focus was on feminism, site specific and interactive installation art, and video. Her essays were included in the Vancouver Anthology (2nd Edition) ISSN 889226148, but until I get the book (if I can) I am not sure which one(s). I am working on getting copies of the articles through the inter-library loan system and also by visiting our local university library that has the Vanguard (magazine) in its holdings. I guess aside from my own personal interest in the subject I wondered if my efforts could possibly lead to an article that could be eventually posted to the main space. It is somewhat sad to see such a brilliant writer who had such a short life be overlooked. That may not be enough I realize and thought I would reach out for some advice. Thank you!LorriBrown (talk) 17:42, 26 February 2020 (UTC)__DTREPLYBUTTONSCONTENT__-->__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"2020-02-26T17:42:00.000Z","author":"LorriBrown","type":"comment","level":3,"id":"c-LorriBrown-2020-02-26T17:42:00.000Z-LorriBrown-2020-02-26T00:32:00.000Z","replies":["c-Megalibrarygirl-2020-02-26T22:08:00.000Z-LorriBrown-2020-02-26T17:42:00.000Z","c-LorriBrown-2020-02-26T23:56:00.000Z-LorriBrown-2020-02-26T17:42:00.000Z"]}}-->
No problem, LorriBrown. You might want to reach out to WikiProject Women artists and see if anyone there can help, too. Sometimes there is information about the curators in museum or gallery catalogs. These are often not digitized. That might be a good source, too, if you can figure out where they are and do an Interlibrary Loan to borrow such an item.
