Please read WP:CATDEF. In particular "A central concept used in categorising articles is that of the defining characteristics of a subject of the article. A defining characteristic is one that reliable sources commonly and consistently define the subject as having" - One film in the genre does not meet the criteria for inclusion in the category. MD, I just added Torchwood back to the BBC America article. This is to inform you that an attempt is being made to overturn an RfC that you voted on (2 RfCs, actually, one less than six months ago and another a year ago). The new RfC is at:
The result of that RfC was "unambiguously in favour of omitting the parameter altogether for 'none' " and despite the RfC title, additionally found that "There's no obvious reason why this would not apply to historical or fictional characters, institutions etc.", and that nonreligions listed in the religion entry should be removed when found "in any article".
The second RfC that this new RfC is trying to overturn is:
The result of that RfC was that the "in all Wikipedia articles, without exception, nonreligions should not be listed in the Religion= parameter of the infobox.".
Note: I am informing everyone who commented on the above RfCs, whether they supported or opposed the final consensus. --Guy Macon (talk) 03:27, 26 June 2017 (UTC)__DTREPLYBUTTONSCONTENT__-->__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"2017-06-26T03:27:00.000Z","author":"Guy Macon","type":"comment","level":1,"id":"c-Guy_Macon-2017-06-26T03:27:00.000Z-This_is_to_inform_you_that_an_attempt_is_being_made_to_overturn_an_RfC_that_you","replies":["c-MarnetteD-2017-06-26T04:09:00.000Z-Guy_Macon-2017-06-26T03:27:00.000Z"]}}-->

There are four rounds of "External links modified" on Talk:Family of Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge. Do you have any interest in checking them? I'm trying to improve the clutter on the page to facilitate whatever discussions are currently going on (someone brought up a dispute on ANI, but that was the wrong venue). I started an archiving which should kick in soon, but it won't touch the "ELs modified" sections because they are too new. It would be great if you could heck them all and OK them, if that's something you still enjoy. Hi S. I only found three EL modified threads. The first and third worked fine and I've marked them as such. When you click on the second one at first it goes to a wayback page and then, after a few moments, goes to a encyclopedia.com page that lists their articles with Middleton in the title. I don't think that is helpful as a reference but I could be wrong. If you click on the "Please take a moment to review my edit" it will show you which reference the bot modified. You might be able to replace that ref with something better. This pretty much exhausts my knowledge of how these work so if it isn't enough to get things where you want them you could try the help desk. Ten days ago the temps were roasting but we had a cold front move through last Friday and the weekend was pleasant. They've risen again be we are getting clouds each afternoon that cool things off so it is tolerable. Best regards. Nighty night. That was perfect. It looks as if another editor had already cleaned out that encyclopedia.com reference entirely (for good cause), as evidenced by the thread at the bottom of the TP talking about poor references. Thanks for the help! A friend of mine in Boulder mentioned to me a week ago that it was "too hot to go out". I am astonished that it gets that hot in Boulder and Denver (I think last year you said it was 90 degrees when I spoke to you about War & Peace), especially since you are up at an elevation. Thanks for your comments and many edits at the Kurosawa article. After the GA passed, I have nominated it as an FA candidate and thought to ask if you could stop by once in a while at the assessment page and possibly leave comments as might be needed from time to time given your strong experience in editing Kurosawa's biography. The current article could not have taken its present shape without your many helpful edits. Hi JohnWickTwo. The description says it was taken before 56 so it just might work with for a film released in 55. Also he is mentioned in the production section (though it could use a reference if you can find one) and that is another plus. I know I've seen and read interviews with AK that mention how his death had an effect on those working on the film. If you can find any info about that it would cinch its use for me. Even without that it should just meet the policy guidelines. I really wish that a pic of Mifune from the film was available - his makeup is amazing and is totally unique in his films with AK. Best regards. Nice of you to look at those edits. Recently, I was asked to close a GAN by the nominator at 13 Assassins (2010 film) which was a film made in the Seven Samurai tradition. The editor there appears to be upset about it and now seems to be making simultaneous retributions edits at Ran because of my involvement there. I then asked the editor to use the Talk page there to list his cite requests or to use individual cite templates in the article which did not help the retribution situation. Could you glance at Ran in case I am missing something. Hello JohnWickTwo. I have taken a look and my reply is based on my twelve+ years here at WikiP. One of the things about AGF is that you have to apply it even when the situation seems doesn't seem right to you. In this case you put yourself in an awkward spot by putting your thoughts about retribution in your first post in the thread that they started on the Ran talk page. The tough thing is that it has allowed them to take a mocking attitude in their post an that is always a hard thing to deal with. IMO at this point in time you would have a tough time convincing any admin regarding retaliation. Whether that is part of their motivation or not something like that only shows itself if the same thing occurs over a significant number of articles. As to the specifics of the Ran article the sources that are already there are good - or maybe it would be better to say a good start. There are many statements that, though interesting and well thought out, could use references to back them up. That editor has pointed out a few of them. My default in this kind of situation is to remember that WikiP is a collaborative project. I would ask for input from other members of the filmproject. They may agree with you or with the other editor - you just have to let the chips fall where they may. Now I know that my post is not what you wanted to read and probably adds to your frustrations. I can only offer my apologies for that but I wouldn't be doing you any favors if I tried to sugar coat things. Please hang in there and keep working to improve WikiP's articles. I don't know why a careful and brief addition to a plot summary of a lengthy and complicated film should be insta-undone just on the basis of succinctness. the structure of EWS has parallel elements like meeting domino once then meeting her roommate the next day. not mentioning the second element makes for a less useful and less interesting article. cheers

It wasn't brief. Please read WP:FILMPLOT. Also note that one you start trying explain things like "parallel elements" you are moving into the area of WP:OR and WP:SYNTH. I noticed you reverted some edits by 1.32.72.20(talk·contribs·WHOIS). I'm familiar with this IP editor, and I've been reverting this person's disruption for probably around a year now. You can read a little about my tribulations at User:NinjaRobotPirate/Socks, where I've labeled this editor "the Malaysian title changer". At first, the IP editor performed cut-and-paste moves to change article titles, but later behavior involves replacing links with redirects to the desired title. These sometimes instead go to disambiguation pages or are redlinks. The ranges used are usually in the 1.32, 60.49 through 60.55, 115.133, 175.144 ranges, and the geolocation is always to Malaysia. Let me know if you have trouble with this IP editor, especially cut-and-paste moves. Robert Hardy passed away today. So many wonderful performances that I could fill my talk page with links to their articles. I had actually heard him long before I saw him onscreen. I still own this record where he voiced Robin Hood. Thank you Mr Hardy for all the memorable characters that you gave life to. Yes,M, a truly great actor. I first watched him as Alec Stewart for four years on monochrome BBC (1966-70) as the ruthlessly ambitious "troubleshooter" keen to rise up the promotional ladder in The Troubleshooters (titled Mogul for the first series). He shared the starring role with Geoffrey Keen and Ray Barrett. At that time, we only had two tv channels in the UK. Then BBC2 was launched on 21 April 1964, and soon we had colour tv here – but on that channel only. The seventh (and final series) of The Troubleshooters was in colour on BBC1. Wishing you a lovely weekend! Cheers! Category:Miramax films Specifically includes films distributed by Miramax. It shouldn't be Dimadick. A) the policy at Wikipedia:WikiProject Film/Categorization#General categorization is crystal clear about this and B) WP:CATDEF is also clear that cats need to be a defining feature of the film - the distributor of a film is not defining in any way shape manner or form. If you feel that either of those polices should be changed you will need to start a conversation and/or a RFC at the appropriate talk page. As far as I know, all company-related film categories include the distributors. WikiProject Film can not unilaterally change a years-long policy. Alright then, just did not want to be too harsh/uncivil even if deserved. I was thinking about pointing out further flaws in the "argument" of the OP, but... cannot discuss with people like that anyway and it was nigh impossible to make the "argument" look even worse. But anyway, no need to dwell on it any further then. And totally agree that removal was best way to deal with it for numerous reasons, not that anything even needs my approval, but as an IP i would have probably been reverted without a thought had i removed it myself, so i didn't. Always have to be mindful of things like that as an IP lol. That series is my top choice as well Softlavender - thanks for recommending it Gareth Griffith-Jones It is outstanding. The sequel Titmuss Regained is good though it doesn't reach the heights of PP. Threlfall features in it prominently. I know that it is on DVD here in the US but I don't know if it ever got a UK release. Okay Softlavender here are a few more to recommend. A Murder of Quality (film) is a nice adaptation of John le Carré's novel. He is also good in Nowhere Boy. This is my favorite of The Beatle's bio pics - to date anyway :-) If you can find it the DVD release of The Life and Adventures of Nicholas Nickleby (play) should be on your list. His performance as Smike is riveting and, in a cast replete with wonderful and extraordinary actors, he really stands out. It is long but you don't have to watch it in one go. OTOH I have tried to recreate what it would have been like to see it live a couple times. You take a 20 (or maybe it is 30 - I forget) minute break between acts one and three and a ninety minute dinner break after act two. A nice way to spend a long winters night - but I know that you don't have those :) If you want a follow up to Conspiracy look for The Wannsee Conference by Mark Roseman. Although it is a quick read it is both a well researched and written account of that chilling event. There is also a set of pictures of the real life principals which you can compare with the actors who played them if you ever watch it again. I hope you enjoy searching out these performances by Mr Threlfall. Thanks again, both, for the additional info. I have put the films on my Watch list. The play is forbidding in its length and price; I do vividly remember when it was running on Broadway though, as I lived in Manhattan throughout the 1980s. "Chilling" is indeed the word that kept coming to me when watching Conspiracy (2001). I now remember one of the other actors that David Threlfall reminds me of a bit along with Alan Howard: Edward Fox. Although I have not yet seen it, I already have A Child's Christmas in Wales on my Amazon Prime watchlist for Christmas viewing. :) Softlavender (talk) 02:39, 21 August 2017 (UTC)__DTREPLYBUTTONSCONTENT__-->__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"2017-08-21T02:39:00.000Z","author":"Softlavender","type":"comment","level":2,"id":"c-Softlavender-2017-08-21T02:39:00.000Z-MarnetteD-2017-08-20T21:16:00.000Z","replies":["c-MarnetteD-2017-08-21T03:02:00.000Z-Softlavender-2017-08-21T02:39:00.000Z"]}}-->

(talk page stalker) Oh, can I dive in? Conspiracy is truly scary. I'm not sure what's worse; that it really happened, or that Mr. Bates, Mr. Darcy and Hamlet had something to do with it. What a cast, and in roles we rarely see many of them in. What blows my mind is how Stanley Tucci wound up as Eichmann. That was the problem I had with watching the film – that none of the actors at the table except Threlfall and Barnaby Kay (Kay looked and acted very German), and at most one or two of the others, seemed even remotely German to me. The principals didn't seem German in the least; Branagh was just Branagh, reciting Shakespeare; Firth was just baby-faced adorable vintage Firth; Tucci was comically Italian-American; and Brendan Coyle was just Mr. Bates. It spoiled the illusion for me. There are innumerable acting tricks to make oneself seem another nationality, but very few to none of them employed any. I don't know if this was bad casting or bad acting (yes I know Branagh won an Emmy or whatever and his delivery and attitude were fine but still). Or perhaps it was deference to German viewers not to make the thing seem like an awful caricature of the German people as a whole. But in this day and age I expect actors playing a particular nationality to seem like they really are that nationality. Goddammit. I've gotten so used to the British accent being generic European in films that I didn't have that problem, and I knew every actor at the table. And the performances were exceptional. Tucci wisely didn't try to play British, but was so understated that he blended in. I'm not sure who's scariest: him, Branagh or Firth. ----Dr.Margi✉07:33, 23 August 2017 (UTC)__DTREPLYBUTTONSCONTENT__-->__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"2017-08-23T07:33:00.000Z","author":"Drmargi","type":"comment","level":3,"id":"c-Drmargi-2017-08-23T07:33:00.000Z-Softlavender-2017-08-22T21:31:00.000Z","replies":["c-Softlavender-2017-08-23T07:42:00.000Z-Drmargi-2017-08-23T07:33:00.000Z"]}}-->
Part of my problem may have been that I watched it over the course of two days instead of in one go. I started watching it after 11 PM so about 3/4 through I was falling asleep and had to stop. When I picked it back up the next night, whatever illusion I may have grown used to that these people were really German was dashed, and it was just Brits at a tea party. I think the excellent script carried it through, but even it had some problems (Eichmann had a tummy upset -- even though he ate nothing? Schubert's Quintet in C Major Adagio breaks Heydrich's heart? Unless these were parts of the historical record I thought both of those things were laying it on a bit thick.) I attempted to see the Solar eclipse of August 11, 1999 by making a day trip from home, in order to avoid hotel prices which were unseasonally high because of the eclipse (the band of totality cut right across one of Britain's most popular holiday regions, right at the peak holiday time of the year, so hotel owners could ask crazily-high prices and still be fully booked). At the time, I was living at Stonehouse, Gloucestershire and found that by getting the first train of the day (around 06:00) and changing trains twice, I could reach Kingswear railway station with thirty minutes to spare. This station is at the end of a branch line, and the southernmost station in Devon; it was inside the band of totality by about ten miles. To get further inside that band, I would have had to travel much further west, into Cornwall - which would have needed an overnight stay. Unfortunately, it clouded over five minutes before maximum totality so the best I saw was a thin crescent. But it did get very dark. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 23:00, 21 August 2017 (UTC)__DTREPLYBUTTONSCONTENT__-->__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"2017-08-21T23:00:00.000Z","author":"Redrose64","type":"comment","level":3,"id":"c-Redrose64-2017-08-21T23:00:00.000Z-MarnetteD-2017-08-21T20:36:00.000Z","replies":["c-MarnetteD-2017-08-22T00:42:00.000Z-Redrose64-2017-08-21T23:00:00.000Z"]}}-->

But it was the "only warning".— Vchimpanzee • talk • contributions • 20:30, 25 August 2017 (UTC)__DTREPLYBUTTONSCONTENT__-->__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"2017-08-25T20:30:00.000Z","author":"Vchimpanzee","type":"comment","level":1,"id":"c-Vchimpanzee-2017-08-25T20:30:00.000Z-Vandalism_on_August_20","replies":["c-MarnetteD-2017-08-25T21:20:00.000Z-Vchimpanzee-2017-08-25T20:30:00.000Z"]}}-->
Vchimpanzee A) I'm not sure why you are posting about this. B) I'm not sure why you couldn't provide a link so that I wouldn't have to waste time hunting for this. C) The log for the IP clearly shows a block with talk page access removed on Aug 20th which is why I posted the reply on that thread. Please make sure of your facts before activating the red ping and "lobod" on my talk page in the future. Sorry. I thought I checked everything. There was nothing on the talk page indicating a block, but when I looked again, a block was requested.— Vchimpanzee • talk • contributions • 21:27, 25 August 2017 (UTC)__DTREPLYBUTTONSCONTENT__-->__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"2017-08-25T21:27:00.000Z","author":"Vchimpanzee","type":"comment","level":3,"id":"c-Vchimpanzee-2017-08-25T21:27:00.000Z-MarnetteD-2017-08-25T21:20:00.000Z","replies":["c-MarnetteD-2017-08-25T21:31:00.000Z-Vchimpanzee-2017-08-25T21:27:00.000Z"]}}-->
No worries Vchimpanzee. There are so many different things to check around here and I am forgetting them all the time. I hope that you have a pleasant weekend. I'm not familiar with blocking procedure but I thought every block came with a message on the talk page. I don't know if someone forgot to do something. I thought I double-checked the log but I guess not.— Vchimpanzee • talk • contributions • 21:34, 25 August 2017 (UTC)__DTREPLYBUTTONSCONTENT__-->__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"2017-08-25T21:34:00.000Z","author":"Vchimpanzee","type":"comment","level":5,"id":"c-Vchimpanzee-2017-08-25T21:34:00.000Z-MarnetteD-2017-08-25T21:31:00.000Z","replies":["c-MarnetteD-2017-08-25T21:41:00.000Z-Vchimpanzee-2017-08-25T21:34:00.000Z"]}}-->
That may have been the case in the past Vchimpanzee but I've seen numerous blocks without them this decade. Especially when the editing is as trollish as this IPs was. Regards. The act of blocking and the sending of a message have always been separate actions. Tools like Twinkle make it easy to do both together, but it's not mandatory. I have blocked several users and not messaged them about it, in almost all cases they were serial disruptors who hop to another IP. Consider the blocks that I've imposed in the last three months: I sent a talk page message to just one of them (the earliest); of the others, the three most recently blocked are clearly the same person. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 18:04, 26 August 2017 (UTC)__DTREPLYBUTTONSCONTENT__-->__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"2017-08-26T18:04:00.000Z","author":"Redrose64","type":"comment","level":7,"id":"c-Redrose64-2017-08-26T18:04:00.000Z-MarnetteD-2017-08-25T21:41:00.000Z","replies":[]}}-->

So, you're reading Lark Rise to Candleford now; the setting for the stories is about ten miles east of where I grew up. Did you manage to catch the TV drama series at all? I saw almost every episode. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 09:45, 27 August 2017 (UTC)__DTREPLYBUTTONSCONTENT__-->__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"2017-08-27T09:45:00.000Z","author":"Redrose64","type":"comment","level":1,"id":"c-Redrose64-2017-08-27T09:45:00.000Z-Lark_Rise_to_Candleford","replies":["c-MarnetteD-2017-08-27T12:50:00.000Z-Redrose64-2017-08-27T09:45:00.000Z"]}}-->
Fun to know Redrose64. I saw all but two episodes from series two. On Amazon UK the boxed set of all 4 series is only 20 pounds so it will be heading my way later this week :-) Cheers. I have read and much enjoyed several of her novels, but not the one you just finished and clearly enjoyed. I must read it. I know that you are a long way from Texas; even so, have you felt any disturbance from Harvey? Wishing you a great Sunday! Cheers! Hi G. The storm hasn't touched us. Whew. The book is an interesting read. The first part follows a group of traveling entertainers in early 1600s France. It brought to mind this film Molière (1978 film) about the playwright. The first half recounts his years with a group of actors as they may their way through rural France. Enjoy the rest of your Sunday as well as the week ahead!
