After a long hiatus (several years!) I now again have some time to volunteer for illustrations and some photographs. I am currently located in the southern third of Illinois in the US, relatively local to St. Louis.

Twill

Hallo, i found you "twill"- and you "plain weave"-image while i was searching for some basic images to explain woven fabrics in my diploma-thesis. i liked it very much and i wanted to ask for you permission to use it. furthermore, i want to ask you if you could also draw a similar image that shows satin weave?!

These are really great!! I've been staring at them trying to decide which one is clearer for the non-specialist. Torn between dark gray/light gray and light gray/white background mesh. Ah! Good - I need a second set of eyes, after staring at the images so long! I thought the dark and light gray mesh was best, but a second opnion always helps.

I'm done creating the chevron, herringbone, and bird's eye twill variations, and the weft-faced versions of all weave structure examples. I just have to get them all exported to PNG and SVG, and create small detail versions suitable for insertion in articles. I'll post a note under twill on your talk page when I've got them uploaded to let you know. Welcome to WikiPedia and the fashion project in particular. Don't be shy or diffident about adding quality content - one of our mantras is "be bold" and I encourage you to do so. It's polite to ask for input before radically restructuring long complex articles or category hierarchies, but it is always acceptable to put real, referenced content in place of banal generalities from tertiary sources that are 40 years out of date.

We can really use an editor with a research-oriented interest in medieval clothing and textiles - I hope you will help with 1200-1300 in fashion when that gets going (and feel free to start it if you like - you can use the outline of 1400-1500 in fashion as a template, as there seems to be consensus that it's our most full-realized entry in the series - otherwise it may be while until anyone gets to it).

PS - It's fine to post skeletons or stubs of long articles and fill them out over time so the work isn't so daunting (and it also allows others to chime in).
