Hi JLNWriter,

You may or may not be persuaded by my argument, and I accept that you may take a different approach from mine. I reverted your edit because I respectfully submit that it is the wrong solution to the problem.

Equivocation is not more factual, and I don't believe it is Wikipedia's preferred solution. Some, many, or all may be in the same situation—without evidence we don’t know what the number is, and we should not assume we know more than the article's author, whose good faith and labour should normally be respected. Moreover, it is entirely possible for all-encompassing statements to be true when those are the facts, e.g. "squirrels are more related to prairie dogs than they are to possums," or "all southern resident orcas learn shared discrete vocalizations, and enter the Salish Sea at least once a year." The encyclopedic solution is to have citations for those statements, as is in fact indicated by the banner above the section, and, admittedly, you recognized that. Equivocation, on the other hand, just makes Wikipedia sound less adequately researched, when the author may well be correct.

To sum up, I believe citations solve the problem, whereas equivocation sounds worse than the original. Best wishes for your editing, and whatever approach you choose to take.
