I saw the article during its DYK, and wanted to add an image, but couldn't prove that any were actually published before 1925. But I searched around, and emailed the Saint Louis University archives, which had an image up (marked copyrighted). After a few emails back and forth, they just today agreed it should be public domain, and so marked it on their site! I see you're working on a GA for it, hope this helps. Ergo, have updated the FAC page with my current position, ie am inclined to take you at face value re comprehensiveness; have done own searches of data bases and not found anything of value that could be added, also as having reviewed in detail a nr of your articles in the past, and knowing your form, am inclined to AGF here, with little to no reservations. I'm available, on and off, for the next 12 hours, and then gone for a week, so if you have the time to close this out, that would be great. ps, inclined to now include the 1993 Curran view, if could see the overall context...is this something you still have and email a scan? To reiterate again am not opposed to short articles, but they do require an especial and different type of scrutiny vs longer pages, which the FAC guidelines are not really set up for. OTOH, I think you overarching aim, as stated on Sandy's talk, is laudable. Best. The Manual of Style explicitly says that "comparable numbers should be both written in words or both in figures." In other words, don't switch between numerals and words for the same set of numbers in the same sentence. Thanks! • The Reply tool has been deployed as an opt-out preference to all editors at the Arabic, Czech, and Hungarian Wikipedias.

Research notes:

• As of January 2021, more than 3,500 editors have used the Reply tool to post about 70,000 comments.
• There is preliminary data from the Arabic, Czech, and Hungarian Wikipedia on the Reply tool. Junior Contributors who use the Reply tool are more likely to publish the comments that they start writing than those who use full-page wikitext editing.[2]
• The Editing and Parsing teams have significantly reduced the number of edits that affect other parts of the page. About 0.3% of edits did this during the last month.[3] Some of the remaining changes are automatic corrections for Special:LintErrors.
• A large A/B test will start soon.[4] This is part of the process to offer the Reply tool to everyone. During this test, half of all editors at 24 Wikipedias (not including the English Wikipedia) will have the Reply tool automatically enabled, and half will not. Editors at those Wikipeedias can still turn it on or off for their own accounts in Special:Preferences.

The new tool for starting new discussions (new sections) will join the Discussion tools in Special:Preferences#mw-prefsection-betafeatures at the end of January. You can try the tool for yourself.[5] You can leave feedback in this thread or on the talk page.

• A request for comment is open that proposes a process for the community to revoke administrative permissions. This follows a 2019 RfC in favor of creating one such a policy.
• A request for comment is in progress to remove F7 (invalid fair-use claim) subcriterion a, which covers immediate deletion of non-free media with invalid fair-use tags.
• A request for comment seeks to grant page movers the delete-redirect userright, which allows moving a page over a single-revision redirect, regardless of that redirect's target. The full proposal is at Wikipedia:Page mover/delete-redirect.

Technical news

• When blocking an IPv6 address with Twinkle, there is now a checkbox with the option to just block the /64 range. When doing so, you can still leave a block template on the initial, single IP address' talkpage.
• When protecting a page with Twinkle, you can now add a note if doing so was in response to a request at WP:RfPP, and even link to the specific revision.
• There have been a number of reported issues with Pending Changes. Most problems setting protection appear to have been resolved (phab:T273317) but other issues with autoaccepting edits persist (phab:T275322).

Arbitration

• By motion, the discretionary sanctions originally authorized under the GamerGate case are now authorized under a new Gender and sexuality case, with sanctions authorized for all edits about, and all pages related to, any gender-related dispute or controversy and associated people. Sanctions issued under GamerGate are now considered Gender and sexuality sanctions.
• The Kurds and Kurdistan case was closed, authorizing standard discretionary sanctions for the topics of Kurds and Kurdistan, broadly construed.

Like you, my body ticks on but sadly I can no longer say the same for far too many people dear to me. This pestilence. I really think a different world awaits us at the other side of it. Guideline and policy news

• Following an RfC, consensus was found that third party appeals are allowed but discouraged.
• The 2021 Desysop Policy RfC was closed with no consensus. Consensus was found in a previous RfC for a community based desysop procedure, though the procedure proposed in the 2021 RfC did not gain consensus.

Technical news

• The user group oversight will be renamed to suppress. This is for technical reasons. You can comment at T112147 if you have objections.

Arbitration

• The community consultation on the Arbitration Committee discretionary sanctions procedure was closed, and an initial draft based on feedback from the now closed consultation is expected to be released in early June to early July for community review.

You're probably not aware of this change, but Days of the Year pages now require direct reliable sources for additions. For details see the content guideline, the WikiProject Days of the Year style guide or the edit notice on any DOY page. Almost all new additions without a reliable source as a reference are now being reverted on-sight.

Yes, first we stop the bleeding then we rehab the patient. Some of us have been going through the DOY articles and painstakingly cleaning the inaccurate or unverifiable entries and have quite a few done but it's a slow process. Thanks for your understanding. 04:24, 11 May 2021 (UTC)
