Chiara: The source you were looking at was archived by the Internet Archive. It's usually the best place to check if you have a dead link to a source. You go to http://archive.org/web/ and enter the dead url into its search box; then find the snapshot dated immediately before the accessdate in the Wikipedia reference. Once you can read the archived page and you're satisfied that it verifies the article text, you add parameters |archiveurl= and |archivedate= to the reference. I've done the job as an example for you at John Holman (chemist) and left a note for Matt.T on his talk page.
