Thanks for creating Auður Laxness, Alanna the Brave!
Wikipedia editor Enwebb just reviewed your page, and wrote this note for you:
Hi -- I wasn't sure if you saw that the GA nomination for Kimberly Anyadike was reopened, as the editor who promoted the article was fairly new and inexperienced at GA. I've posted a new review; the only thing that needs fixing is the lead, so if you can address that it will be promoted to GA again. Thanks. Welcome to Women in Red's March 2018 worldwide online editathons.
Historically, our March event has been one of the biggest offerings of the year. This year, we are collaborating with two other wiki communities. Our article campaign is the official on-line/virtual node for Art+Feminism. Our image campaign supports the Whose Knowledge? initiative.
Women's History Month 2018
Hi GreenAlienO/Serectrus: I'm assuming you're talking about the March 5 page? I was informed by editor Toddst1 in October 2017 that WikiProject Days of the Year have recently changed their policies regarding citation. They now require that all new additions to the births/deaths sections of "days of the year" pages be directly accompanied by a reference to a reliable source. Feel free to check in with them if you have any questions. On 30 May 2018, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Mary Greyeyes, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that World War II servicewoman Mary Greyeyes(pictured, left) was incorrectly labeled as an "unidentified Indian princess" in a famous Canadian Women's Army Corps publicity photo? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Mary Greyeyes. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Mary Greyeyes), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

I have explained before the problems I have in accessing sources in Canada. I think this might be a critical item [1] and am wondering if you can access it? In light of the fact that WomenInRed's Editathons this month are Russia and LGBT, I thought that I would work on Vera Gedroitz. Maybe even shoot for GA, but cannot do that without sources. If you cannot access it, do you have any idea how I might find it? Hello,
I am E. Whittaker, an intern at Wikimedia with the Scoring Team to create a labeled dataset, and potentially a tool, to help editors deal with incivility when they encounter it on talk pages. A full write-up of the study can be found here: m:Research:Civil_Behavior_Interviews.
We are currently recruiting editors to be interviewed about their experiences with incivility on talk pages. Would you be interested in being interviewed? I am contacting you because of your involvement in Wikipedia’s Women in Red project. The interviews should take ~1 hour, and will be conducted over BlueJeans (which does allow interviews to be recorded). If, so, please email me at [email protected] in order to schedule an interview.

Just a heads up since I noticed the extra project tag you added to a tennis player. Consensus at Wikiproject Women is not to add an extra "WikiProject Women" box to a person if they already have a more specific sub box such as "WikiProject Women's sport." We actually had to create a bot to remove thousands of "WP Women" banner additions in the past. Thanks. Hi Fyunck(click), thanks for the heads-up -- I wasn't aware of that policy (I was under the impression editors were supposed to tag articles about women with either WP Women or WP Women's History, depending on the article subject). I'll be more careful with my tagging in the future. It's not a policy, it was discussed and agreed upon at WP Women a couple years ago that it's over-redundant if the person already has a more specific banner. Certainly, if they have no other "woman" banner at all, tag away with WP Women or add a more specific banner. Better a generalized banner than nothing at all. Thanks, and happy editing. Well deserved! Thank you Gerda Arendt for your consistent recognition and encouragement of people who work on women's articles. On another note, Alanna, I have written an article that sort of mushroomed and I think it works for a GA. Ian thinks I need to add more photos, but I am always at a loss. I have found tons of photos of her on the web, but don't think any of them are usable. If I cannot add photos of her, I have no idea what photos to use. It seems to me just sticking photos of the people she worked with or the venues she played in from the wrong decades would be problematic. But, I am not particularly visual, so I have no earthly idea. Any ideas of what could be added to Eusebia Cosme? SusunW: Hmm... I did some browsing at the Commons, and found this 1940s photo of the Palacio de Bellas Artes [3] and this 1960s photo of Mexico City [4]. What do you think? I'd agree that photos of other people (e.g. celebrities she met) are not overly desirable, unless those people had a significant impact on her life. If it's not possible to add more photos of Cosme herself, then I'd suggest choosing a few images of relevant locations, landscapes, cultural/professional costumes (rumba costume? Cuban or Mexican culture?) or anything else that might give readers a better sense of Cosme's life and times. Sometimes a photo does wonders just by adding a bit of colour into a text-heavy piece (helping the reader stay engaged). Thank you so much. As I said, I am not very visual. I usually ignore the photos in an article. (I also have been known to never notice if you dye your hair a different florescent color once a week--true story). I find diddly with costumes on commons, except possibly this [5] which if I knew how to crop off their heads, I could probably use, as it is similar to [6]. I put it in the article, I just don't like having the focus on the women, who have nothing to do with Cosme, rather than on the costume. Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. Just an FYI, I nominated you for this user right, which I periodically do for many member of WiR with 25 article creations. You won't notice any difference, it just means that articles you create will not go into the new page patrol. Frees up both editors from patrolling and you from worrying that someone might tag an article for speedy without being familiar with the subject matter. I have yet another meeting, but I'll be back sometime this afternoon in the event that you have questions. Hi Alanna the Brave, I just wanted to let you know that I have added the "autopatrolled" permission to your account, as you have created numerous, valid articles. This feature will have no effect on your editing, and is simply intended to reduce the workload on new page patrollers. For more information on the autopatrolled right, see Wikipedia:Autopatrolled. Hi Schwede66 -- Awesome! Much appreciated. I do have one question about the edits you made to some of my articles: you altered the "date accessed" formatting for quite a few source references, and I'm not 100% sure why. Are these dates always supposed to be spelled out in full (e.g. August 18, 2018 instead of 2018-08-18) or should I just be making sure that I'm always consistent in whichever date formatting I use in my references? Thanks, Alanna the Brave (talk) 23:08, 18 August 2018 (UTC)__DTREPLYBUTTONSCONTENT__-->__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"2018-08-18T23:08:00.000Z","author":"Alanna the Brave","type":"comment","level":2,"id":"c-Alanna_the_Brave-2018-08-18T23:08:00.000Z-Schwede66-2018-08-18T21:26:00.000Z","replies":["c-Schwede66-2018-08-18T23:39:00.000Z-Alanna_the_Brave-2018-08-18T23:08:00.000Z"]}}-->
I think policy is that they don't need to be formatted like that. Important is that there is consistency with date formats, e.g. using dmy in the prose and mdy for references needs to be avoided. When I review articles and mdy or dmy isn't set, I choose one depending on national preference and what's already in use, and format the references as well. The latter part is my personal preference; I find formatted dates easier to read (be they mdy or dmy) and it also avoids ambiguity (although there is an ISO standard, 2018-08-10 could be August or October...). Just a note, if you are using the drop down templates, press on the calendar icon which appears at the end of the field "accessdate" and it will automatically fill it in. Same thing for isbn, if you input a number and press the magnifying glass, it will auto fill, though I do find you have to check the info, as sometimes it is not complete. (talk page stalker) My preferred mechanism is to a) Edit Special:MyPage/common.js and b) add the line importScript("User:Ohconfucius/script/MOSNUM dates.js");. When you edit an article, you then get an option "ALL dates to dmy" (British), ALL dates to mdy (US) and a veritable smorgasbord of other options. It means you can swap between UK / US date formats (which, if you're working on multiple articles in one session, is pretty common) without breaking a sweat. Ritchie333 That is a really cool thing. I am extremely OCD about many things, but the order of dates doesn't really bother me. I think it has to do with living abroad for so long. Many places use different date styles, so I encounter variations in my day to day life. If I can tell the day, month and year, the order is irrelevant to me, but I know many people on WP are constantly changing date order. Good to have a tool to do it. Thanks! On 26 August 2018, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Margot Fonteyn, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Margot Fonteyn(pictured) was The Royal Ballet's prima ballerina for 45 years, before retiring to become a cattle rancher in Panama? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Margot Fonteyn. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Margot Fonteyn), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Hello, Alanna the Brave. Voting in the 2018 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 2 December. All users who registered an account before Sunday, 28 October 2018, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Thursday, 1 November 2018 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote.
