Name Change

In November 2009, the wrestling world collapsed. The McMahon controlled WWE had lost all of it's television deals, PPV provider deals and contracts. The same happened to TNA Wrestling. Sensing an opportunity to once again have full control over the market, Vince McMahon bought everything that TNA owned, including the contracts of all their wrestlers. Unfortunately, McMahon couldn't continue with re-building the WWE and his daughter Stephanie McMahon bought the rights to the WWE, WCW, ECW and TNA Wrestling companies. The then won a court battle to reinstate the previous name of the WWE, World Wrestling Federation, as she thought the WWE name was tarnished. She set up a worldwide television network to air all new programming, sacked everyone she disliked or didn't see profitable and the World Wrestling Federation was back to it's 1990's heyday.

Brand Split

Following on from the WWE, Stephanie decided to split the company into two distinct brands, WWF which features formerly Raw and Smackdown wrestlers and The Alliance which features wrestlers from WCW, ECW and TNA.

Programming

On the World Wrestling Network, owned by Stephanie McMahon, WWF programming airs five different programmes a week. The WWF brand has two programmes, WWF Raw and WWF Smackdown, The Alliance has two programmes, WWF Nitro and WWF iMPACT, with the both brands sharing the WWF Divas programme.
