I've been here, off and on, since 2006 but have not been very active for most of that time. In early 2019 I stumbled across the WikiProject Role-playing games, a project dedicated to improving and organizing wikipedia pages on my favorite hobby. Digging into it more I saw that they were right, many tabletop game subjects are completely missing and others, that have pages, are lacking detail. So I decided to hop on and help flesh those out, as well as help out in other places across Wikipedia whenever I can.
RPG Pedigree
I started playing tabletop role-playing games as a teenager in the late 90's with 2nd Edition AD&D, which I played with my friends until I moved away. Continued to play various game systems with various groups of players, either in my local area or at gaming conventions, since then. That includes but is not limited to D&D 3.0, D&D 3.5, D&D 4, Savage Worlds, various itterations of the D20 System, The Robotech RPG, Pathfinder Roleplaying Game, Rifts, and The Strange. To this day I play table-top games at least bi-weekly.
If you have any questions or want to talk to me about editing pages on any of the above, drop by my talk page and say hello.
Current Drafts
I'm currently working on Drafts of the following pages. They may be extensive reworks of pages that need more work than a few minor edits can accomplish, or may be a new page I'm working on from scratch.
User:Vancian/Drafts/ENie_Awards - When I first saw this page (ENnie Awards) it was a WP:Stub. What information was there was poorly referenced and much of it was out of date or incomplete. Copied it to my drafts to try to rework it to be more accurate, clear, and sourced. The changes needed are fairly extensive so I made a draft copy to get started and will copy my changes to the main page once I have a good foundation in place, after checking with some other users who have a vested interest in the page.
User:Vancian/Drafts/TableTopGameplay - The Tabletop role-playing game article, as a whole, needs improvement. Especially in the form of better citation. The Gameplay section needs more work than the rest. It lacks citation and is written in a way that makes the subject more confusing, even to someone already familiar with it.
Draft:Adam_Tinworth - Referenced from User:BOZ's drafts list. Seems to have a good bit of information and a number of good sources (perhaps too many) but mostly needs to have its tone adjusted and a few things cleared up. I'm going to see if I can help with that.
AfD/AfC/New Participation
Because of the above mentioned reasons for being here I plan to participate as often as I can in Articles for Deletion, Articles for Creation, and in the creation of new articles. Below are any articles I've made non-trivial edits to, including those that I started from scratch. For any articles I create, I keep them in Draft form until I have done enough on them that I believe they fully satisfy Wikipedia's Notability requirements, and adhere to the Wikipedia Manual of Style, while being certain to use common sense above all. This list is not an attempt to "claim" a page or brag as much as a reminder to myself and a reference in case anyone wants to easily see where I have been looking.
