Lieutenant Bazet’s Funeral: A Solemn Tribute at Air Base 116
The funeral of Lieutenant Bazet, who died in the line of duty, was held yesterday morning at Luxeuil-Saint-Sauveur Air Base 116. The religious ceremony, conducted by military chaplain Mr. Millet, brought together many comrades, superiors, and both civilian and military authorities who came to pay their respects to this esteemed officer.
After the mass, a military ceremony took place in front of Sainte-Maria Chapel, attended by the base commander, Colonel Harry, officers of Air Base 116, as well as representatives of the gendarmerie, police, and local officials. Lieutenant Bazet, recently awarded the Aeronautics Medal, was recognized for his commitment and personal qualities, which were unanimously praised by his peers.
His comrades paid their final respects by mounting an honor guard beside his remains throughout the ceremony. The emotion among those present was palpable, as they mourned the sudden loss of an officer admired for his sense of duty and exemplary camaraderie.
Lieutenant Bazet will be buried in Morlaàs (Basses-Pyrénées), his hometown, where his family and loved ones will be able to say their final goodbyes.
