Hello, I am Tim Ryan from New Ross Ireland. I'm running as an independent candidate for the New Ross Town Council in 2009 and this site is one of the many places you will be able to find out more information about me and my background.

We live right in the town. My wife Gabrielle and I have brought up our three boys here after moving to 'Ross 9 years ago. Our connections with the area go back 25 years. My family was originally from Limerick. I still have relatives there and in Dublin. Gabrielle's family came from Longford but she has relatives in Dublin and Cork.

I trained as a Civil Engineer and I have worked both as a contractor and as a consultant all over the world. At one time I was Civil Engineering Advisor to the Ministry of Planning in Saudi Arabia and was based in Riyadh. However, I also became involved in marine engineering and then in the running of towage companies (tug boats) and this for a while was an exclusive calling.

Since coming to 'Ross, I have gone back into Civil Engineering Consultancy on a private basis as much for the fun of it as for the need. I have covered an array of work that I would not have believed was to be found in Ireland in the last few years. However, it has also opened my eyes to much that has been happening that does not appear to have any longterm benefit.

I have always been a republican in the true sense of the word and shortly after coming to Ross I put my support behind Sinn Fein Councillor John Dwyer whom I still regard as being the most competent Councillor in either the Town Council or the County Council. However, I resigned fron Sinn Fein last year over national leadership issues. My principles remain the same as ever but I can no longer support Sinn Fein.
