User:Stand Up For Pits

Stand Up For Pits Foundation, Inc. is a 501c3 non-profit benefiting Pit Bull Terriers founded by stand up comedian Rebecca Corry.

Rebecca's pit bull, Angel, is the inspiration for Stand Up for Pits and the One Million PIBBLE March On Washington D.C..

Angel was found running down the street in South Central Los Angeles and picked up by animal control. Her ears had been home cropped with scissors or razor blades, battery acid poured on her back, tail broken, used as a bait dog and over bred. Angel’s story and remarkable spirit changed Rebecca's and she continues to change the lives of every person who meets her or learns her story from around the world. Rebecca believes that through laughter, positive images and education that this beautiful breed will one day no longer be the target of discrimination, abuse and hate.

Stand Up For Pits is an event everyone (even non-dog owners) can enjoy with music, videos, interviews and comedy. The Foundation has raised thousands for non-profit rescues across the nation. With educational programs and adequate funding we can end the senseless abuse and create safe and humane communities for humans and pets. Stand Up For Pits believes it is our obligation to respect and protect the dogs we share this planet with. Dogs (including Pits) serve us in many vital capacities. As seeing eye dogs, military PTSD dogs, search and rescue dogs, drug sniffing, bomb sniffing, police dogs, military dogs, seizure alert dogs, hearing impaired dogs, therapy dogs, service dogs and ESA’s (Emotional Support Animals) to name a few.
