COMMON TECH PROBLEMS:

virus scan with symantec endpoint: scan for threats (active or full) or use malwarebytes from the internet

groupwise: can download groupwise from scu it site; to manage login issues when the info of previous user is being retained right click the groupwise shortcut and go to GW Properties, from there add a space then(/@u-?) folling the address ending in exe, hit apply, then ok. when you double click groupwise icon problem should be fixed.

windows updates: go to www.windowsupdate.microsoft.com, hit custom and it will scan for appropriate updates, then just hit install.

to unfreeze computer (lib browsing comps, make an update permanenet so default settings wont be used): ctrl + alt + shift +f6 and then the option to unfreeze appears and icon in lower right appears (bear) that will show unblocked access

erase hardrive: plug usb and power cord in, then icon for hard drive will pop up in "my computer," right click and hit format, ok.

archive grouwise: in email account, go to TOOLS and then OPTIONS and then ENVIRONMENT and then FILE LOCATION and then under archive directory (should be blank) so click folder to the right and pick desired drive (usually c), then make new folder (usually called GW Archive)then click ok and say yes when asked to create directory. back to email account, upper left icon called "online" should now show archive in drop down menu. can move emails by right clicking and selecting move to archive option.

grouping MAPI error w/ groupwise 8: uninstall outlook from 2003 and 2007 because the address books clash and create the error.

taking an image of a computer: once the drive is connected to the computer, press F12 as the computer starts up and select to run from USB. Select ghost from the desktop and then local > partition > to image. Select smallest local source drive (usually selected by default) and then select Windows XP Volume label. Then select [Data] NTFS Drive and data backup and then ghost backup and create name for image. Then follow prompts to start creating the image.
