Pottoore Chandy Joseph aka Baby.
Born on March 5th, 1921 into a humble family, P.C. Joseph the youngest of three brothers and two sisters of Chandy Pottoore (Vediodath) and Aleyamma Kattuveetil, had a very modest beginning. A brilliant student during his school and college days, he had to undergo a lot of hardships, at times even studying under street lamps due to lack of proper lighting in the house in those days. He was always fond of studying in the nearby St. George Edackattu Forane church cemetery as it afforded him complete silence and concentration too.
A tenacious individual who always strove for the best, he reaped rich dividends by bagging the honor of being selected into the Indian Revenue Service and being the first Knanaya Catholic to do so. The year 1952 saw him begin as a class II income tax officer in Tiruchirappalli after having successfully completed the IRS and a course in Law. Nevertheless, P.C. Joseph never got heady scaling such heights because of his staunch belief that the Almighty was the guiding spirit behind all this and every success was God’s grace.
