Jake Ian (October 24, 1982) is a Canadian Alternative Folk Music and Punk Rock vocalist, guitarist, bass player and songwriter. He performed with PiND, The Soulicitors, and his own solo project Jake Ian. Other musical projects include playing guitar on The Depression's 2010 self titled album "The Depresion".
Early years
Jake Ian was born Jacob Ian Feniak in Lamont, Alberta, the oldest child of three. His family lived on a farm in Warspite, Alberta. His father still lives on that farm to this day. Living on the farm was an experience that Jake finds effects his songwriting. But what jump started his passion was when, in 1990 at the age of eight, his parents took him to see The Rolling Stones in concert. "I've loved music since." - Jake Ian
Music Career
In 1999 Jake and a close group of friends with similar interest in music decided to start a band. They named that band PiND. And, with a hard work ethic and desire PiND became an integral part of the Canadian Punk Music Scene. During their seven years together PiND played numerous shows in Edmonton and toured cross Canada 5 times.
In 2002, PiND released their first album which was self titled.
In September of 2007, Jake's life decided to travel a different path. Having graduated from The University of Alberta with his Bachelor of Education diploma he looked for a job in the teaching field. He found one and had to move to Hinton where he became a shop class teacher. It was a combination of living in Hinton and the lonliness that he felt that caused Jake to pick up his acoustic guitar and play. A year later he had enough material to complete his first solo album "Sunset Estates".[1]
Small town life and being away from his friends and family caused Jake to pack up and move back to Edmonton in July of 2009.
