Marco Di Caprio (born 1 December 1989) is an Italian writer, poet, and language teacher. His creative work blends modernist prose, philosophical themes, and elements of rock and psychedelic culture.

Di Caprio was born in Aversa, in the province of Caserta, Italy.^[1] He studied modern literature at the University of Naples Federico II and completed a master's degree in Italian studies at Roma Tre University in 2013.^[1] After graduating he worked as a teacher of Italian language and literature in the Italian public-school system. He later obtained CELTA certification and the Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE) and has also taught English abroad, including brief periods in Russia and Colombia.

Di Caprio began writing fiction in his teens. His first novel, The Mystery of Easter Island (2007), an adventure story set in late sixties that blends mystery and Cold War themes, was published when he was eighteen.^[2] A new version, more accomplished and more symbolic, was released in 2026.^[3]

He later turned to more introspective and experimental writing with the collection Horror Vacui (2019), which gathers existential and surrealist texts influenced by modernist and psychedelic imagery. A subsequent project, In Circles (2026), combines poetry and philosophical prose around the concepts of time, repetition, and transcendence.^[4][5]

In 2025, Di Caprio published Chromatism in Troubadour Lyric Poetry: Love, Obscurity, and Soul Refinement, a study of medieval Occitan troubadour song. The work examines how poets employ color imagery to articulate love, desire, and processes of ethical and inner transformation. It analyzes chromatic language through semantic oppositions—such as light and darkness, clarity and obscurity, and “mixed” tonal states—and, although troubadour lyric was largely secular, relates the emergence of these contrasts to biblical and theological modes of expression.^[6]

Recurring motifs in Di Caprio’s writing include circular structures, dreamlike imagery, psychological fragmentation, and the search for meaning through art.

His thorough research in online archives also led him to uncover the date and cause of death of Tom Dissevelt, a pioneer of electronic sounds in popular music, and the fate of Rudolf Sosna, a member of the German rock group Faust.

Since 2021 Di Caprio has curated an extensive creative reconstruction of The Beatles’ discography, imagining how the group’s work might have continued had it not disbanded in 1970. The project involves designing hypothetical album track lists, artwork, and commentary spanning the 1970s and early 1980s. It has attracted attention on social media among fans of Beatles scholarship and alternate music history.^[7]

Readers and critics have noted Di Caprio’s mixture of literary modernism and spiritual inquiry. His writing combines introspective narrative with musical and visual symbolism drawn from rock culture, mysticism, and contemporary psychology.

Di Caprio lives in Rome, Italy.^[8] Outside writing, he is active in teaching, music appreciation, and cross-cultural education.
