Comedy early career: 1994-1998

Having finished School and awaiting his 'A'levels, Robin deb has begun to harbour an interest in stand up comedy. given most of his peers had gone away for the summer, he phoned and signed himself into a number of gigs,

the debut being in July in 'The cosmic Comedy Club' hammersmith.

it was a new act competition run with general aplomb in a fruitful club and Mc'd by jack russell, bnot be confused with Jack russell ; werewolf by night or Jack russell , that one that S%^ts two streets down from you and the owner needs a slap.

he did not win.

However a persistance with gigs over this time lead to a big commute as he atteneded essex University which had no coemdy gigs at the time. his main comfort was being both guard 2 and Theif 3 in a 5th Monarchist production of 'wyrd sisters'

During his time At Essex University Rob got so frustrated he took off to live in Paris, believing that a clean sweep would clean the comedy bug out of him. the result was a beif interim in a circus as 'Monsieur saxo' , being a debutante saxophonist at best, he had many difficulties , not least of which was his nights living with a chicken in his student digs and no ability to speak french.

soon after returning Rob attended A comedy course run and organised by Ivor Dembina, and started to really get a sense of voice.

1998-1999. having graduated and still a bit aimless, rob continued to gig on a semi regular level, while a comeptent materialist, complaints about his age (at 22 he was deemed far to young to have any worth as a comedian by many of his circuit peers) and his own self doubts lead to a fluttering of sets that would start strong but could be easily upended and heckled.

in October 1999 rob Managed to get a place at edinburgh University. while here he started the course for beginners at 'teh Stand Comedy Club

While quite gifted , Rob still suffered from a lack of stamina on stage, and tried to voerc ome this in appearing in eric bogosian written play, he played Natwan choudry Asain corner store owner. Although he saw the play through to the end, he left with a great deal of antipathy towards both theater and amateur dramatics in general.It was here he also began to classify himself as an inverted snob on stage, and rarely wanted to speiodn time wth the edinburgh students

At this point he began to allow comic books to filter into his act with his attempt at 'pop culture polemics' in the form of

offered the opportunity to do the Stand new qact shwocase over the edinurgh festival Rob declined to pursue his film and academic work.

2000-2005

After graduating Rob Deb moved back with his ma and pa in south london. having tried a handful of gigs he found himself working a variety of retail jobs thoughout most of this time, most notably was a stint at Gamestation, and Comic Showcase. It was while at Shwocase he came up with his plan to create Geek comedy for edinburgh. it became the focus of his act a he Partnered |With Phil Klien and subequently Jay sodagar to do a weekly preview of his show which went up in 2006
