Jeff was born on January 18th, 1985, in Ottawa, Ontario. Jeff is the son of Kathleen and David Roy, and brother to Brad and Allison. He moved to Newmarket, Ontario, at the age of 8 where he attended Armitage Village Public School and Newmarket High School. He moved to Etobicoke at the age of 18 to finish High School at Etobicoke Collegiate Institute.

Jeff participated in many sports as a youngster. Although he enjoyed most of the sports he took part in, Jeff focused his time and energy training for and participating in ski races. He raced at the FIS level for a few years then quit competitive skiing in order to focus on his academics and get into university. His love for the sport never depleted and to this day he continues to be a part of the racing environment as a coach.

He is currently in his 3rd year of a Business Administration program at Acadia University in Wolfville, Nova Scotia. Jeff is living with three other guys and they have all been friends since first year of university. Two of his roommates, Jeff Dortmans and Ben Taylor, play for the Acadia Axewomen Soccer team. His third roommate Adam Macleod, chose not to take on too many extracurricular activities so that he could focus on his academics as well as his female endeavours.

Jeff is a member of the Acadia Lacrosse club who plays against other Atlantic Universities in the Maritime University Field Lacrosse League. He is one of three members on the team's council, which include Chris Walsh and Brendan Macfarlane (AKA the smartest man alive).
