Gregory Alex Pappas Biography

Born January 26, 1961 in Dallas, Texas, USA. His parents were Alex George Pappas and Cleo Michalas Pappas, both of St. Louis, Missouri, USA. He has a sister, Mary Denise Pappas Morris, born February 6, 1952, and a brother, George Alex Pappas, born March 25, 1954.

Pappas was raised in Dallas, Texas. His father passed away on March 20, 1967. His mother was later remarried to Burton Williams in 1974. Pappas graduated from Lake Highlands High School in 1979. During high school he was a member of the school newspaper and was co-editer his senior year. He played varsity soccer as a sophomore and junior. After graduation he attended Richland College in Dallas then the University of Texas at Dallas (UTD). He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology in 1985.

Pappas was married to Jeanell Ashmore on July 17, 1980. They had one child, a son, Alexander Ashmore Pappas, born February 23, 1981. They later divorced on January 28, 1983.

After graduating from UTD, Pappas attended medical school at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. He graduated in 1989 and entered a residency program in obstetrics & gynecology at the same institution. He transferred at the end of his first year to the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in Denver, Colorado, where his future fiance was also a resident in obstetrics and gynecology. He successfully completed his residency in 1993. He and his fiance ended their relationship one year earlier.

After residency, Pappas moved back to Dallas and began his medical practice in association with Kaiser Permanente, practicing at Medial City Dallas Hospital. He became a Diplomate of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (a member of the American Board of Medical Specialties). His mother Cleo passed away on January 20, 1996 at the age of 73.

In November, 1997, Pappas left Kaiser Permanente and began a solo private practice in Dallas. He continued to practice at Medical City. He was married to Jeanne Kathryn Oler Clifton on April 8, 2000.

In July, 2000 he moved his practice to Jacksonville, Texas.
