When 31-year-old nobody Roland Green falls head over heels for Ember (Lezlie Williams), the exotic vixen who recently moved in next door, his life changes dramatically. Roland’s love isn’t just infatuation, or some phase, or anything of the sort. Those types of feelings fade over time. His love for Ember is the kind that men take to their graves with them. Unfortunately for Roland, Ember is a tigress that can’t be tamed, truly incapable of reciprocating the feelings he has for her or even monogamy. As Roland wrestles with this revelation, he becomes extremely confused. Is the spicy passion that Ember occasionally sprinkles his life with enough to keep his fire lit? Or will Ember’s oft-cold ways deliver Roland’s soul to a state of eternal winter? Roland’s dilemma unfolds on the eve of Valentine’s Day, a time when the force of love is at both its best and worst.

Ember Like December is Adam Best’s furious five-minute film that will rip you out of your own head and thrust you inside Roland’s distorted world. The film feels like a painting, as it uses a montage of scorching images and a chaotic soundtrack to convey a message that dialogue couldn’t possibly express in such a short span. The film was shot in 2 days for considerably less than a grand budget-wise, proving that in this age of filmmaking/digital filmmaking those with talent, passion, and determination can realize their cinematic visions, even with limited resources.

Adam Best is a young writer/producer/director who is moving full speed ahead with his blossoming career. A student of both the silver screen (Full Sail) and the stage (the University of Missouri) that has written, directed, and produced, he now wears all three hats in his effort to continually bring his unique visions to film lovers. Ember Like December marks Best’s first film as an auteur, as he delivers this expressionistic film all the way from his mind’s eye to the final cut you can view on your monitor screen. His career continues to move forward as he currently has several other promising projects in various stages of development.
