Live at My Father's Place, 6/26/80 is a live album by the American humor and rock band Blotto, released as a YouTube playlist on December 14, 2020. This article is being adapted from an existing article which will gradually disappear as I get more of the actual article written.
The album was the first in a series of four recordings of live shows released by the surviving members of Blotto to YouTube over the course of about three months in late 2020 and early 2021.
Background and song information
At the time this show was recorded, Blotto had released two self-produced 12-inch extended-play records: Hello, My Name Is Blotto, What's Yours? and Across and Down. Still trying to land a recording contract (which they never did), the band continued to play shows at clubs from the Capital District (Albany area) to the New York City metro area, including My Father's Place where this recording was made.
Almost all of the songs on this recording were written by the band, with the only exception being the final track, a cover of the 1966 Johnny Rivers hit "Secret Agent Man", which the band used to close their shows on a regular basis. This album's recording of that song is the same as the track on Then More Than Ever, but is missing the brief intro. The band interpolated phrases from "The Pink Panther Theme" and the "James Bond Theme" into the song, further emphasizing the homage to the movie genre.
Of the ten original tracks on this recording, three are from the band's first EP ("I Wanna Be A Lifeguard", "We Are The Nowtones", and "Bud (... Is After Us)"); four are from the second EP ("Gimme The Girl", "H.S.H.", "My Baby's The Star Of A Driver's Ed Movie", and "She's Got A Big Boyfriend"); one ("Jumpstart My Heart") would appear on Now More Than Ever; and two are previously unreleased ("Let's Eat" and "I Love You Calvin Klein").
"I Love You Calvin Klein" features Blanche Blotto singing lead. She would depart the band shortly after this recording was made, although the song stayed in Blotto's setlist for over a year afterward.

Released in 2000, Then More Than Ever features archival live recordings, capturing Blotto in concert at the height of their Dr. Demento-fueled popularity. If you're a devoted Blotto fan looking to relive the band's heyday and already have One Way's Collected Works best-of compilation, this is a great way to recapture the loose, entertaining showmanship of their live performances.
