The History of the Rubber Bands

1968: Daniel Luke, Dennis Sipes, Gary Lovendusky, and Mark Ablang form the first incarnation of the band. 1969: Band records 1st single "Take the Last Bus to AP". Band records a completed album "The Rubber Bands" 1970: Gary Lovendusky exits the band. He is not replaced. The group will continue on. 1971: Richard Bersamin and Mel Bautista join. 1972: Daniel Luke misteriously exits. 1972: Group carries on with Dennis, Richard, Mel, and Mark. 1973: Mel Bautista exits the band to become the group's producer 1974: Mel re-joins the band. They carry on as a power trio. 1975: The group disbands even after a helacious live performance at Delmar. 1975: Dennis begins a solo career, Rich forms the Retreads, and Mel forms the Benchwarmers. 1976: Dennis' career in full swing, Rich and Mel meet with limited success. 1977: Dennis forms Seapie. 1978: Dennis forms The Sapporo from Mars. 1979: Dennis continues his world dominance with his brilliant solo offerings as well as with his other bands. 1980-1982: Dennis continues to tour with record support. No company will sign Mel or Rich for past poor record and ticket sales. 1983-1992: No activity as Dennis lives the high life in Beverly Hills while his counterparts experiment with unemployment. 1993: Dan, Dennis, Rich, & Mel re-unite for an all-time grossing concert at Delmar. Concert is released on cd. 1994-Present: Although the Rubber Band members continue to be good friends, a reunion at this time is unlikely. Mel is a pig on the SFPD as the oldest living cop, Rich is busy having open heart surgeries, Dan has disappeared once again, Mark is out of jail, Gary hasnt been heard from in decades and Dennis continues to perform with different bands. His latest lineup includes former members of the great Japanese rock band X-Japan, with Dennis assuming Hide's guitar slot. Dennis has also appeared with former Show-ya vocalist Steffanie Borges, guitarist Miki Igarashi, and bassist Satomi Senba, as well as Yoshiki. Latest rumors have old man Rich teaming up with a famous keyboard player known simply as H. The latest rumor on Mel has his clothing department at SFPD making larger uniforms for him.
