I usually contribute content related to Antigua and Barbuda. I want to improve Wikipedia by countering systemic bias, particularly in content relating to Antigua and Barbuda and the wider Leeward Islands. I was motivated to start editing Wikipedia due to the very low bar for content relating to these countries, as well as a lack of content about most locations in my country. Articles in this region also tend to be breeding grounds for wild, naïve, activist content, harming readers that may rely on Wikipedia for "neutral" Caribbean-related information.
Then of course there's the bias against "small island folk" that penetrates many Caribbean and international circles. The kind of bias that results in this, this, this, and this.
I would consider fixing the low bar in content to be just as important to countering systemic bias as simply adding content. I also express distress in double-standards, not neccassarily focusing on notability, but rather test-edits and policy changes being experimented on with Caribbean-related articles. On Caribbean-related articles, these changes are less likely to face opposition, resulting in the diminished quality of Caribbean content as well as an incentive to use content on low-quality Caribbean-related articles as precedent for users' artless "takes", which can cause damage to non-Caribbean topics as well. Countering systemic bias for Caribbean topics can help the entire encyclopedia and this needs to be taken more seriously– there is more to it than simply adding more content.
