I am a physicist and chemical engineer based in Baltimore, MD, working at Johns Hopkins University. My research is focused on cutting-edge atomic, molecular, and optical (AMO) physics, particularly on laser cooling and trapping of molecules.
My work includes development of the first magneto-optical trap (MOT) for molecules, Invention of the radiofrequency (RF) MOT, a new method that improved trapping forces and allowed lower temperatures than traditional MOTs, and recent demonstration of 3D sub-Doppler cooling of strontium monofluoride (SrF) molecules to ~50 µK.
Beyond the lab, I enjoy curating and contributing to pages related to chemistry, universities, and nerd culture. I'm also the proud owner of a corgi (Nancy) and a great dane (Freddie), and love long walks, short walks, and a nice malt beverage.
