Software Engineering, Internet and Networking
I have been messing around with computers since the late 60's. My high school had a computer club with a telex connected to a mainframe at IIT ... and a whole lot of punched tape.
My first 20 years as a software engineer (formerly known as a "Programmer") was devoted to developing accounting and crop management software for the agricultural industry. I spent the next 20 years developing and managing embedded software for DOCSIS Cable modems. I was an early contributor to the DOCSIS specs, and have a related patent. My last 5 years was spent as a Software Quality Engineer at an Aeronautical Engineering firm.
Personal Interests
Music and Art
- I play the pipe organ and piano. I have also been known to torture the clarinet and french horn, and most recently the contrabass.
- I support community based music organizations and play in a few.
