Bold textGuido TiglerItalic textwas born in Florence in 1963. In 1989 he graduated in art history at Florence, after he discussed a thesis about the developments of Romanesque style in Lucca(Tuscany). In 1994 he obtained the research doctorate in Middle age art history at Venice university,by writing his first book about the portal sculptures of Basilica di San Marco in Venice. From 2002 he is associated professor of Medieval art history at Florence university. He wrote a lot of articles and tests about the medieval sculpture in Tuscany(especially the gothic sculpture in Siena),in Umbria(he studied the sculptures of Orvieto cathedral),but he particularly occupied himself with the study of gothic sculpture in Venice ("Intorno alle colonne di piazza San Marco",2000;"Breve profilo della scultura",in "Lo splendore di San Marco",2001;"Il portale maggiore di San Marco a Venezia",1994),and in Dalmazia (the area wich includes east Italy and Balkans). He wrote about the relationship between the Venetian gothic sculpture and Bisanzio(now Istanbul),but he also underlined the presence of lombard,venetian and german masters in Friuli(an east Italy region),during the 14th century(see the tests "La scultura romanica e gotica a Venezia e in Dalmazia nel quadro delle relazioni artistiche tra Bisanzio e le regioni adriatiche" and "Spedizioni di opere o scultori itineranti? Maestri lombardi, veneziani e tedeschi nel Friuli gotico",2003). At the moment, he's preparing "Il romanico in Toscana", a new volume about the Romanesque style in Tuscany(sculpture,architecture and painting).
