The choice of name has to be done globally for all children in a given couple (I'd have to read the law again but that's what I remember). This is, I think, in order to make things more understandable by outsiders — it would seem very weird if siblings from the same parents had different surnames. Thanks for the comments about the Morris Minor entry. There are two articles about Hotchkiss. The car one is very small, there is more about cars in the Hotchkiss & Cie article. I don't know much about the company but have added a bit about the pre world war 1 activities from an article I found. It is very vague about what was the first car they made. There must be a Type A somewhere but nothing is to hand at present. More will get added when I get a chance. Malcolma 13:57, 6 April 2006 (UTC)
