Tobi Asehinde is a Nigerian entrepreneur, digital marketing expert, and business growth strategist. He is the founder and CEO of Digital Marketing Skill Institute (DMSI), an educational technology (EdTech) company that provides digital marketing training and connects organizations globally with digital talents through the use of artificial intelligence (AI). Asehinde is known for his contributions to advancing digital marketing skills across Africa and empowering emerging entrepreneurs to thrive in the digital economy.[1][2]

Early life and education

Tobi Asehinde was born and raised in Nigeria. He later pursued higher education in the United Kingdom, where he earned a Master's Degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Portsmouth. His academic background in technology served as a foundation for his career in digital marketing and business growth.[2]

Career

Asehinde began his entrepreneurial journey by founding several tech-driven companies, the most notable being Digital Marketing Skill Institute (DMSI). He established the company in 2015,[3] with the goal of providing digital marketing training, DMSI has grown into a leading educational technology company. It has trained over 115,000 learners across 37 countries and four continents. DMSI’s mission is to equip individuals with essential digital marketing skills and connect them with global job opportunities, either as employees or freelancers, using AI-driven tools.[2] His company, DMSI, which started as a digital marketing blog, has evolved into a leading educational technology company.[2]

Under his leadership, DMSI has partnered with organizations such as the Challenge for Youth Employment (CFYE), a project funded by the Netherlands government.[3] This initiative aims to empower 5,000 women in Africa’s male-dominated digital marketing industry by providing them with training and connecting them with global job opportunities.[4]

In 2023, Business Day recognized DMSI as one of the Top 100 Fastest Growing Companies in Nigeria, further solidifying its role as a leader in digital education and talent development.[1] Beyond DMSI, Asehinde has founded another tech-focused company Accredital, A platform connecting African digital talents with businesses globally.[5]

Philanthropy and community engagement

In addition to his entrepreneurial work, Tobi Asehinde is involved in various philanthropic activities. He is a past president of the Lagos Phoenix Lions Club, Ikoyi, where he contributed to several humanitarian efforts. Asehinde also serves on the advisory board of the Health Emergency Initiative, a non-profit organization that raises funds to cover medical bills for indigent emergency patients.[6]

Asehinde is also deeply involved with the Nigeria-Britain Association, where he has served in various roles, including on its council.[7] In 2024, he was re-elected to the council, where he continues to promote initiatives fostering stronger bilateral relations between Nigeria and the United Kingdom.[8]

Professional affiliations and recognition

Asehinde is an advocate for enhancing Nigeria’s digital economy and fostering international business relations. He has been a member of the Nigerian-British Chamber of Commerce (NBCC), where he served as a digital communications adviser and honorary secretary. His work within the NBCC has contributed to stronger trade relations between the two countries, especially in digital industries.[7]

In 2024, Asehinde’s contributions were further acknowledged when he was re-elected to the council of the Nigeria-Britain Association, a move that highlighted his leadership in international diplomacy and business relations.[8] His work in digital education and entrepreneurship has earned him recognition from various organizations, including being listed by Portsmouth Enterprise as an entrepreneur to watch in Africa.[2]

Impact and Advocacy

Asehinde has used his platform to advocate for the empowerment of young Africans, particularly women, in the digital economy. His work through DMSI and other ventures focuses on reducing unemployment by equipping individuals with in-demand digital skills and creating pathways for them to access global opportunities.[4]

In 2023, DMSI partnered with TechCity to launch Accredital, a job-matching platform that leverages AI to connect businesses with highly skilled digital marketing professionals across Africa.[5] This initiative is part of Asehinde's broader mission to bridge the skills gap and promote African talent on the global stage.[5]

Personal life

Tobi Asehinde resides in Lagos, Nigeria. He is passionate about leveraging technology to drive social change, particularly in areas such as education, youth empowerment, and healthcare. He continues to advocate for young Africans to develop their skills and pursue global opportunities in the digital economy.[2]
