The novel tells the story of two people on an isolated island. Every morning, they wake to a different life in a different time, and not always one that seems like the "real" past.
Reception
Dave Langford reviewed The Tides of Time for White Dwarf #78, and stated that "Brunner's philosophical contention probably needs a whole book. Here it gets about 30 pages, and it's a tribute to his skill that he keeps you reading until then."[2]
