Why was this 60-second TV ad included in this template? It's one of several directed by Scott, none of which, in my opinion, should be cited in a list of his films. I am restoring the 1984 commercial and will modify the template so that it is appropriate. While a commercial, this work is of interest to scholars (See for example, Ted Friedman's online essay,"Apple's 1984: The Introduction of the Macintosh in the Cultural History of Personal Computers"
http://www.duke.edu/~tlove/mac.htm
which was later expanded into Chapter 5 of his book, "Electric Dreams: Computers in American Culture", NYU Press, 2005). It has played a significant role in two visual works, the 1996 documentary Triumph of the Nerds and the 1999 television film, Pirates of Silicon Valley. It has also been described as a "watershed event":
http://www.usatoday.com/tech/columnist/kevinmaney/2004-01-28-maney_x.htm
and in an interview in which Scott talked about the making of 1984, it was described as a "classic":
http://www.brmovie.com/Articles/MrShowbiz_RS_1996.htm
It thus should be mentioned in the template. -Classicfilms (talk) 23:23, 8 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"2008-05-08T23:23:00.000Z","author":"Classicfilms","type":"comment","level":2,"id":"c-Classicfilms-2008-05-08T23:23:00.000Z-MovieMadness-2008-02-06T21:28:00.000Z","replies":[]}}-->
