I have updated this template as seen below, which makes it easier to see which election is to which body. I was wondering should this template also include the Local elections as well.--padraig3uk12:43, 1 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__
-->
Obviously I prefer the standard layout as below. There is no need to seperate the elections by the body they were elected to, and this is not done on other election templates. Certainly local elections should not be included - there are separate templates for them (see Template:Portuguese local elections). The situation in Northern Ireland is not standard, therefore it shouldn't be treated as such. Also I see no reason why the local elections shouldn't be include.--padraig3uk12:56, 1 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__
["c-Number_57-2007-05-01T13:07:00.000Z-Padraig3uk-2007-05-01T12:56:00.000Z"]}}-->
Primarily because (a) these templates are for elections only at the national level and (b) once you add local elections, then why not parish elections, European elections, etc etc. It's a slippery slope which needs to be avoided or it will give excuses for them to be added to other templates - imagine the result if the Philippine national election template was combined with the local election one (which itself is a disaster). I think we should re-consider the current layout again. The main reason I believe it should be changed is because Northern Ireland (unlike Scotland and Wales, for example) has had many "national assemblies" since it was formed. In this respect, Northern Ireland is different from most other "countries". In fact, since Northern Ireland was formed it has had six different elected assemblies – the NI Parliament, the 1st NI Assembly, the NI Constitutional Convention, the 2nd NI Assembly, the NI Forum, and the 3rd NI Assembly. To lump all of these under the heading "Elections" with a link to Northern Ireland Assembly (the current one) is utterly misleading.

I disagree, particularly with the statement that the term "elections" is misleading - these were after all, elections - how can this be misleading in any sesne. Also, see (e.g.) {{Honduran elections}} for a template which includes Constituent Assembly elections in the legislative bit. The new layout looks overly complicated. 10:14, 9 May 2010 (UTC)
It's misleading because (a) it doesn't tell readers which elections they are and (b) it implies that all of the elections were for the same body. The heading "elections" even links to the current Northern Ireland Assembly! As myself and padraig have pointed out, Northern Ireland is unlike most other "countries" in that it has had six different elected assemblies since it was formed. ~Asarlaí13:24, 9 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__
["c-Number_57-2010-05-10T08:41:00.000Z-Superfopp-2010-05-09T13:24:00.000Z
~Asarlaí"}}-->
Yes, but (for example) France has also had several different parliaments under the various republics, but we do not have a separate line for each one. I don't mind getting rid of the link to the Assembly in the current version though. пﮟოьεԻ5708:41, 10 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__
-->
