I checked two of the articles in "Major holdings" (Crewe and Cloughton) and neither seems to mention the Duchy of Lancaster at all. Neither does the Duchy of Lancaster article mention them, or what a "Survey" is. It has the statement "The duchy comprises 18,700 ha (46,000 acres), including key urban developments, historic buildings, and farm land in many parts of England and Wales, as well as large holdings in Lancashire." Is it really the case that the entire town of Crewe is owned by the Duchy? Its own site states:
In total, the Crewe Survey consists of 2,000 hectares, including 165 hectares of woodland, at Crewe and Marbury in Cheshire and other smaller holdings in Cheshire, Derbyshire and Leicestershire.
The estate at Crewe, lying between the town and the M6, was bought in 1936. The Marbury estate, also bought in the twentieth century, lies in the south-west corner of Cheshire. On both estates the main farming activity is dairying, although some arable crops are also grown. These two estates are made up of 20 farms, amenity woodland and let cottages. The Crewe estate is developing for employment purposes on the eastern edge of the town.
Several things need to be done:
Add a full referenced list of all holdings to the main Duchy of Lancaster article
For each such place,
If it has an article, add a referenced statement about the Duchy's proprietorship to the article, and link the article on the Template, and transclude the Template on the article
If there is an article about a nearby/enclosing place, maybe add a referenced statement about the Duchy's proprietorship to that article, maybe link the article on the Template (e.g. "estate near Crewe" rather than the misleading bald "Crewe"), and don't transclude the Template on the article (the wikilink to Duchy of Lancaster will suffice).
